Dual dustcover hinges

Yeah they look easy, i design and print all kind of parts these days. I have a Dual 704 do i have those things too? I am not Home right now so i dunno.

Any experience with Shapeways?[/QUOTE

I believe you need to provide a 3D model/file for them to print. That said I also happen to have a hingeless Dual. If someone can provide me with accurate dimensions of the part, I can design it in Solidworks and 3D print it. If it works and there is interest I could do a small run of them.

Edit- just saw terracide’s post

Any experience with Shapeways?

Not personally but an AKer used them to make replacements for the problematic cuing mechanisms for the Technics SL-1200, 1400 and 1500. Apparent;y the results are good.

I may try this. I have a pair of originals, and from my experience, most Duals with the smaller wooden plinths have lost their hinges....come unhinged, if you will.

The one thing I hate about my 1229 is that the cover is not hinged. It's the main reason I rarely use that table in fact.

Personally, I prefer lifting the cover off on my Duals. Seen too many of those brittle old covers with at least cracks if not entire chunks missing in the back.

Good luck with the hinges. Have several used lids. While not perfect, they work. My German built cover has heavy plexiglass and wood trim. Can't really see it in my avatar but the the German built base and cover is nice. The US built covers are half as thick plastic. But, they work. Sometimes, I take them off, but gently hinge them back. Both are cracked. Glued with epoxy. Not pretty, but hardly noticeable from the front. Being gentle with these covers hasn't hurt them. Hard to find mint ones.

I think I have a good idea of dimensions and overall shape from the pics in this thread and the auction site. Will draw some up in Fusion 360 and print a set.
