Dumbest thing someone has ever said to you?

Referring to the audio world, whenever I go and try to sell a piece of gear the first person to contact me is always a lowballer. The phrase I always hear is “You will never get that price.” I normally just ignore this person. Sometimes they will pepper me with more emails. I will say that my next meal is not dependent on selling cheaply to you. Guess what? I normally get my asking price and I didn’t have to sell to this annoying person.

I was working once at Sears Automotive on the service counter. A woman comes up and asks "Do you work here?". At the time I was standing next to the counter wearing the uniform of blue work pants, white shirt with a Sears patch on the right side of my chest and my name patch on the left. Without batting an eye and with a straight face I answered "No". A puzzled look came across her face. After a second, before she became mad, I replied "Nah, I'm just kidding. How can I help you?". I had to lighten the moment because the only thing worse than an idiot is an angry idiot.

From the mouth of an security a**hole at Deep Purple concert in my hometown (so far the only one ever): For what is that microphone?

An ammonia squirting device might be a good thing to carry along with the water bottle... you know, for those times when you really wish you had something, thinking of the dogs. It's kind of hard to keep chase consumed trying to get that next breath... and you don't need a permit. For the terrifying only, of course.
From another thread on the forum.

Bikes and gear get equal treatment from me. I keep a spare bike, spare preamp, power amp, etc. However, I only have one of each.

Not HiFi related, but...

Went to a car dealer. Salesman comes up to me. He explains that the price at the top of the sticker is what the dealer pays the manufacturer to get the car onto the lot. The bottom price is what the dealer normally sells the car at.

The extras between the top and the bottom price ($1200), the dealer only makes 10% on these (=$120). He then offers me $200 off the bottom price.

I won't say how I convinced him that he's in a losing business. He was quiet after that.

My ex-wife when I bought my first CD player. “So, now I suppose you are going to buy CD,s too?” I did say ex-wife!
You should've told her you were going to cut down both your records and hers (assuming she had records too) so they would fit in the new player.
