Dynaco A35 History

I have a chance to get a pair of dynaco a35s. Curious what years these were produced.

I have an sx1080, and sl1700mk2. Looking to keep it all late 70s.


Anyone with any experience with these?

I don't know the exact time span for the A35, but I had a pair for many years and loved them. I have A25 now, the A35 were better, IMO, and much less common.

There are a few threads on them here, do a search, you'll find lots of info.

The A-35 is definitely a '70s speaker. Even as early as 1973-74, I believe.

Especially if your chance to get a pair of A-35s doesn't involve a 500-mile drive or huge shipping costs, I would jump on it.

Another bonus at least going by original A-25s that I have owned for decades, the rubber/foam surround decisions Dynaco made on their speakers means they still hold up in that department.

Closet classic speakers.

I always figured they'd be an A-25 with better low end, but I've never heard them. They add a second anechoic chamber.

They came out in 1972, and were probably discontinued in 1975, with the release of the A-40XL, a similar design with a different cabinet shape. I have a pair of these, but I haven't heard them, either. One day.

I bought a pair of A35s around 1973 and ran them stacked with a pair of A25s. The A35s sounded better than the A25s.

I bought my first sound system with A-35 with SCA80 and FM-5 in 70's, maybe 71 difficult to remember exactly. I choiced A-35s over the A-25s after i listening to it in the showroom. Little time after I burn A-35s in a party and I bought new speakers and fall on great EVs speakers (SP-12&T35) and changed for PAT-4 and Stereo-120 amp, since party goes on ;-)

I was wondering about that. I always found that my A35 were about as good as it gets for the price and size ranges.
