Hello,

I am familiar with the A25, but never heard the A35.
I've been told that the A35 are the upgraded version and they sound more consistence.

Any thoughts?

Thanks

I have both. I think the A35's sound even a bit more open in the midrange than the A25. They are a very nice sounding speaker, but the A25 still wins to my ears. Contrary to everything I have read on the two, the A25 has more bass to me ears. I don't know if the smaller box causes a hump in the bass that just makes it sound more punchy, or if the sealed box of the A35 just makes it sound more dry, but the A25 just has more balls to my ears. I did quite a bit of comparison between the two, and the A25 sounds like a bigger speaker than the A35 (in my room anyway).

I've never heard any other Dynaco's besides the A-10's (sold them) and the A-25's (listening to now). I actually own 2 pairs of the A-25's and stacked, no matter what anyone says or thinks, sounds darn good to me. I'm overkill on power with them being ran off of a 380wpc Carver TFM-55 but they don't get much of a workout. They sound great in this 12 x 14 room and I've only replaced the original cap with a Solen poly version. The other pair has also had its caps replaced and I just might have to get them out of storage and put them in here stacked!

Bumping this thread... 1969 Dynacos are old, this thread isn't :) ... Because i wanted to ask an amateur's question: The A35s are considered a "floorstanding speaker"? That's what I understand. What does the community think regarding the idea of lifting up a large pair of speakers to more of an ear-level ... err... level? And how to do it? I currently have my A35s on the floor, using some vintage-style floorstanding speaker stands that wedge them up toward me. But I wonder about getting them thigh-high ...

It wasn't unusual in the 70s to see A35s (and their sibling the A50) on the floor, but to me they've always sounded best on stands. I use 15" stands with mine.
