E-V Patrician 800 speakers

A guy I know got a pair for $6k and thought he did the best deal ever. He'd intended to flip them, but once he heard them, his custom Tannoys were out the door, and nothing since has crossed his threshold that'll evict them. And he deals in some pretty high end stuff. I though the guy with the $80 Leak Stereo 20 had the score of the year. I think you must have at least the score of the decade.

Just goes to show, and take it from one who knows, there's a lot of potential upside in haunting old theaters, and/or digging around a little because a lot of folks just don't want to deal with the hassle....
 
Wow.. now I know who got my share of luck...

If the grill cloth isn't torn, maybe remove it, wash it and block it to let it dry and reinstall?

A good thing I discovered is that the T-350 that wasn't speaking earlier was not speaking because of the oxidized attenuator (as I thought).

All drivers work... now to send the crossovers to Bob crites and start making the cabinets look good.

No kidding... a further update, I asked about the amps that had run the speakers, and I got a note from the head of surplus stating that since I won the bid on the speakers, if I was interested in the electronics :banana: I was welcome to have them.

Congrats on perhaps the greatest find I will ever see. I remember when I got my EV Regency's in a similar situation, but from a college professor. These were pristine and did not move an inch for 40 years. This is the speaker score of the decade for sure!

These will rival just about anything out there in terms of sound quality. The nostalgia and vintage appeal is what drives the prices through the roof.

I was looking at the spare tubes that came with the amp, and there were two RCA 12AX7s... The 1568a doesn't use 12AX7. Hmmmm...

Looked in the back of the Revox. Ah... there they are. :-)
