E-V Patrician 800 speakers

Excellent product! Here are the before and after application pictures... I'm really pleased. I didn't do the fronts of the cabinets yet, just the tops and sides, as the fronts have these finishing nails that are tricky to deal with. Will have to punch them in and use filler, I think. The cabinets still have warts, but not as noticable and the finish was brought out nicely by the Howads product. I did use the Feed n Wax product, but no pics of that yet.

There are still warts, but they would only be eliminated with a total re-veneer... so I'm just gonna say the warts are part of the history of these babys... :-)
Keep in mind that I had already done 000 steel wool and some Murphy's wood soap prior to these before pics, but there were still lots of paint spatter and general gouges, discoloration

Before

After

btw, I also got Howards Restor a Finish for mahogany, and it works very well on the piano finish!

THANK YOU AGAIN!!

Gouges, places of discoloration, cracks, missing veneer, hole punches where the finishing nails were...

I call anything that isn't a perfect finish 'warts'... :)

I like it. Thanks. Those will be truly, the phoenix of all speakers. Can't wait to see the rebirth.

Looking very good! This got me thinking, I need to hit my Barzilays with some Feed n Wax...its been a couple of months.

Oh, Badass, just got back from eating and went to check on the babys (it's dark here now, so I saw them under flourescent light, but the Feed n Wax is GOOD stuff and - it would seem - the perfect compliment to the Restor. I just took a soft rag to them (1st wiped them off, then buffed, then ate, then came back and wiped 'em again)The lustre, the finish, it's really REALLY good. I appreciate the nod in that direction!

I enjoyed reading this thread, anxious to learn how you like the results after getting them back together will new crossovers installed.

Last weekend I was given a pair of Voice of the Theater A7's that are in good condition. Previous owner had them in his living room since 1970 or 71.

Update: I have the speaker cloth in from Wendell Fabrics. The crossovers are back from Bob Crites (excellent work as always).

Still have some minor blemish repair to do as well as a fabrication of a panel to mount the new attenuators in (pics will be forthcoming, but you'll see what I'm talking about). Removal of staples and the purchase of a staple gun to mount the fabric.

I think they'll be done by the end of the weekend. As always, I plan to take a LOT of pictures and post the link to them.

Excited? Yes!

Wow, didn't see this thread until now:drool:

Just stunning, I hope you don't mind if I (and apparently many others:D) live vicariously through you!

Im damn excited too....cant wait to see those beauties all prettied up. Those are gonna be an amazing pair of speakers.

ahhhh.,,, hmmmm, welll..... didn't get them done. Life got in the way. Gonna be a few more days, maybe even next weekend.

Frustrated I am. :scratch2:

Jeeze, how the Hell does one wire up and power those things? Looks like two enclosures side by side for each box. Time to piss off the neighbours and shake the termites out of the walls I guess, lol. Don't crack any windows mate.

Just saw your thread for the first time...what luck! I be watching to see the results, let me know when there ready to test out I'm only about 2 hours and 22 min away in Morganfield, Ky. I'll bring the Wine & Snack tray. I'm sure several other local AK'ers would love to listen to their audition.
