What's the difference between Vandy II's

The first pair is older -- probably much older -- than the second pair. 2Bs versus 2Ces. First pair probably has foam surrounds in need of replacement; second pair should have rubber surrounds. Both pair are overpriced.

Agreed that they are overpriced, but if you can find a pair within the $400-600 range they'd be worth looking into.

The Vandersteen 2ce was my first "audiophile" speaker and I held on to them for 15 years before looking to upgrade. Actually, I miss them now that I think about it. Maybe I should see if there are any near me for sale. :scratch2:

I have a set of 2c that I bought for 250 and like new. I love these speakers and it will take a lot for me to trade/upgrade.

Agreed that even the older ones sound very nice. I had a pair like the first picture.

Before the "signature" versions of the 2CE, the actual models were shown by the letters at the end of the serial numbers.
I got a clean pair of 2CEs, then 6 weeks later found a pair of 2CIs. Each pair was well under $500 with stands.
And each came with the heavy Sound Anchor stands (that actually DO help them sound tighter).

Wound up using them as mains and side surround in my music/home theater room.

Was watching Later with Jools Holland today and the sound reminded how much I like them
over the JBL 4341s and other speakers I've had in that room ...

No, just doing basic reasearch right now. Interesting about their location. Have probably passed by the factory a few times on the way to Yosemite without knowing it.

My 2Ce Sigs were about $800 (in trade, so I don't have an exact price) and that included the metal stands. $800-$900 seems to be the going rate for 2Ce Sigs, with the non-Signature 2CEs (such as seen here) in the $550-$600 range.

If the 2Bs have not been recently refoamed and checked out, then I'd say a max of $200 for those. And be prepared to rip off the cloth sock and re-foam them, or pay someone to do it for you.

I know. Hanford? Seems odd. Never associated Hanford with Vandersteen. Decent Mexican food, giant Sequoias and sulfuric tasting water yes, not Vandies.
