Electro-Voice Drivers...who used them?

Picked up a nice pair of speakers yesterday from the 1960s with no ID on them. They are two-ways with beautiful Electro-Voice SP12B drivers in them. What manufacturers used EV drivers in the 60's?

Klipsch ...

It's probably a consumer fabricated cabinet. Electro Voice would sell you the speaker and instructions and you did the rest ! I have a few.

Here's one of the front... That's a drill on the top (for scale). Looks a little like a few Dynaco's I've seen. The use of wide pneumatic applied staples, holding the insulation on the inside leads me to think it was manufactured not consumer built.

Probably a third party cabinet (if not DIY, doesn't look DIY, nor does it look like an EV cabinet design) loaded with EV drivers.
In the 1950s and well into the 1960s, drivers & enclosures were frequently sold separately and matched in rather haphazard fashion based on our Thiele-Small-informed sensibilities

Pics of my no-name 12TRXB cabinets. It was pointed out that these cabinets have an interior "front panel" sized for 12", but bolted over a probable 15" opening. As it is, the 12" TRXBs fill a room with sound.

Even empty, these cabinets are heavy.

Like everyone else in that era, EV sold loose drivers for installation in whatever cabinets you wanted. They also sold empty cabinets, and even just the plans for their cabinets, which could then be used with whatever drivers the buyer wanted.

EV was a bit more open to selling drivers to other manufacturers than were Altec, JBL, and the rest, though.

Wanted to re-use this thread to save the digital rain-forest -

Any suggestions on getting these E-V 12TRXB no-name cabinets up higher off the floor so that the tweeter horn/mids are closer to ear level?

I stuck a plastic milk-crate under each and it gets them maybe 3 inches higher, but I'm thinking if they were higher, would sound better.

Any ideas would be appreciated!

Those legs can be found on second hand store furniture, maybe harvest some longer ones from a table or such to get more height.

Thanks Copper! But... my fear is that the weakest link is the "mount point" of the leg to cabinet; where the threaded rod of the leg screws into the base of the cabinet. I'm thinking of trying a cheap test with 2 stacked milk-crates under the center of mass of the cabinets. OTOH, that may make it too tall..
