Electronic music for great listening.

I'm not joking. ;)
For most in my generation it's an integral part of the music experience (the commercial house stuff anyway), but not everything is as useful for listening sessions. A lot of tracks I still love from my DJ days are not right or too bass heavy on a HiFi system in a 'normal' room.

Are there any of you who consider certain tracks/mixes great for listening purposes?

The latest Crystal Castles is awesome and great for a sit-down-and-listen.

Electronic music has this feel to it that takes me away when I really get into it. In that sense, I think it's close to the more experimental forms of Jazz, to me at least...

I've always liked Atari Teenage Riot and it's member's solo outputs, but have been missing out on what they did for the better part of the last 10 years (yikes!) and it looks like some pretty cool stuff came out. I've heard one or two songs from Alec Empire's The Golden Foretaste of Heaven and really should get that one. Nic Endo is also supposed to release something soon enough that looks promising, with the very mellow and powerful "Sanctuary" that's up on YouTube right now.

In high school, my friend introduced me to DJ Sasha, and changed my life forever. As a result, Sasha, and Sasha and Digweed make up a good portion of my listening. Too bad their stuff is all expensive on vinyl.

That last one, Lunar, is something special to me. It's one guy, from I believe New Zealand, and if I remember correctly, only 21 just like me. He uses exclusively computer based composing software and yet creates these lush sounds. I'm a particular fan of his first two albums, "Wall of Sound" and "Hybrid Awaken."

Yello is definitely on the audiophile side as far as their recordings are concerned.:thmbsp: I also like Four Tet and Thievery Corporation.
 
Bas 305, has alot of tracks that would fall into this category. The mid range is phenomenal when cranked up.

I had this one cd that when i played it. It would completely pressurize my room and then the music starts. It was nothing short of sublime. It was as if the Mid frequencys are just wafting in the air in your direction.

I like listening to electronic music but can only find it on two FM broadcasts. One is Echoes and the other is Hearts of Space. I don't know where to buy the CD's, who the artists are or even what to ask for.

I'm losing out!

Love electronic music and don't have enough of it...

Picked up a sealed copy of William Orbit's 'Strange Cargo' on vinyl.
William Orbit's 'Pieces in an Other Style' ~ classical music given electronic interpretation.
Some of the 'Chillout' compilations are great. Hmm, theres a Canadian band called West Magnetic with a CD called 'Top Down' that has a distinct electronic edge to (though there are vocals, so... I dunno, electronic jazz fusion? pretty cool anyway) it. And then there's Eno of course with the ambient series.
 
Zappa's "Jazz from Hell"

He was proud of the fact a parental warning sticker was placed on this LP even though it is 100% instrumental.

Switched on Bach is a goody too ! Before Walter turned into Wendy.
