Beautiful music.

You mentioned several of my favorites there. I've also seen VNV nation several times.

A few more of my favorites are:

Angels & Agony
Cesium 137
Code 64
Colony 5
De/Vision (I prefer their older stuff, but they still do a good live show)
Frozen Plasma
Iris
Neuroticfish
Provision
Rotersand
Seabound
State of the Union

I'll admit that much of it is an acquired taste, but I enjoy electronic music, and it's nice to listen to something recent that's a little different. I discovered it when I started to get tired of my aging 80's synthpop collection. After years of mostly listening to music from the past, I'm finally looking forward to and buying new releases.

Lol our taste seems to be almost exactly the same, you might wanna take a look at these:

And One: http://www.andone.de/index.php
Ashbury Heights: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=COtbOoes2dg
The Girl and the Robot: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2mbnNHF7aK8
Melotron: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CLYUI0nD58E

Most of the other bands I enjoy have already been mentioned.

But yea, modern EBM is an acquired taste, but once you break the code it never lets go.

My all-time favorite electronic album is:

Two Lone Swordsmen - Stay Down

And I think it is excellent for listening to great gear as well. Great beats, twisting rhythms, underground feel, underwater vibe, high tech.

I found quite the opposite, I liked it from the moment I heard it, but after a couple of parties kind of lost appetite for it :dunno:

Still revisit the albums from 'then' end check some of the new vinyl releases though. :thmbsp:

Now listening to Radiohead - The King Of Limbs, which is quite an electronic album too. And a very nice one at that.

It's a varied genre, there is bound to be something in there for you to build from.
German EBM/Synthpop is as evolved and varied as British rock music.

I guess it's also where you draw line of what EBM is. ;)
In a broader sense I listen often to it.

I (also) think a lot of electronic genres 'flesh out' quickly nowadays. :thmbsp:

Now listening to the odd combination of drumcomputers + an orchestra now, works well for me. ;)

Well telling the difference between synthpop, futurepop, bitpop, EBM, industrial, electronica and electro rock is difficult, bands that fit in to these genres are usually a mix of many things.

One could almost indefinitely sub-categorize most genres of music, down to one category per band/artist (or perhaps more!). It's great for the inner music geek in most of us, but I find it becomes just a wank at some point! ;)

Got a few more things lately, having been on a used hunting trip in a bigger city than the one I live in :) :

Deadmau5 - 4x4=12
Plastikman - Artifakts BC (the actual CD, but came in the "Musik" jewel case)
Eric Prydz VS Floyd - A proper education (vinyl)
A couple of other DJ vynil records whose names I cannot remember...

Plastikman is great for getting a relaxing ambiance going without grabbing you attention too much, good for reading late at night.
