I recently ran into a pair of Empire Grenadier 7000s in decent shape, could anyone tell me anything about these speakers ? Thanks in advance, any info appreciated
I thought the original brochure for these things had a pic of a couple playboy bunnies caressing them. If so they wouldnt of gotten a very high WAF factor in my house in the 70s. I wouldnt of been allowed to look at the brochure let alone buy a pair.
Opinions seem to vary but, I happen to like the looks and sounds of a set og Empires in good working order. However, to get the best out of them, you need to buy one of the Empire turntables .
I have read that the realatively heavy cones, with their floor-facing orientation, tend to sag after many years, leading to a non-ideal voice coil 'rest' position.
But I don't know how this 'sounds'.
