Am I getting my hopes up too much thinking this could be an S1080LT stylus, which would have been stock on a LTD 780 GT?

If the cantilever is clearly gold colored, then your hopes are not too high. I highly doubt that any generic mfr would bother gold-coating their cantilevers.
As you saw, if a GT body is measured, you'll find it's high inductance (roughly 700mH), same as your OP 4. So to find another 700mH body for your new stylus is relatively easy.

I received a DER EE DE-5000 LCR meter as a gift this week, so did a little research into the differences in readings between the DE-5000 at 1KHz and my DMM's L function, which measures at 200Hz.

On average the difference in reading was under 2%, which I think is negligible in the context of this thread.

For context, I went through the inductance readings reported throughout this thread and -- throwing out outlier readings that were significantly different between channels -- found an average 0.2% difference between channels.

Inter-channel resistance variance averages 0.6%, but for a sample size about 1/3 of the inductance readings.

This DE-5000 is a nice piece of equipment and I'm looking forward to doing more experiments with it.

Hope it works out well for you. I seem to only get two types w used styli on a used cart. Either hardly used, or just worn out/ damaged.

I think it’s been mentioned before but I didn’t see it .. edit: it has that dark purple opaque colored grip. Is that one of the 66 family?

That B195E/II has now been joined by another one (!) with a filthy diamond and a clear-purple pignose grip.
But yes, both have the purple S912E, formerly known as the S66QE/X.

That cantilever is fairly long, narrow, and tapered, too. It actually looks like one of the quad styli.

Rumor has it that one of the Enigma creators moved to NY after the war and ended up working for Empire.. it must of been around the time the 66 was developed.

Well....the "new to me" 3000 ME/X just showed up in the mailbox.
First thing I did was put the stylus under magnification;
Picture is not as clear as I wanted, but under a loop it looks like it has plenty of life for a few more turns.
But hey....a S912E for 46 bucks shipped ain't bad in my book. Plus the 3000ME/X is no slouch in itself.
