BTW, with speakers like this, always pull a woofer and make sure no one subbed in Radio Shack drivers at some point....
I'm a bit of a noob when it comes to speakers and hifi in general. Do I need to pull the woofer out of the cabinet to check the driver?
Yes, you pull the woofers and look at the them from the back. Hopefully you find something that looks like this:

This is not correct. Genesis did not use EPI woofers. Genesis made their own drivers, although they were all but identical. Genesis was in fact started by several people from EPI who left the company over the disagreement of the advancement of the tweeter.
