Epicure EPI 100V or Boston Acoustics A40?

you should write up a history of these speakers in a similar way to the AR3/AR3a restoration guide on Classicspeakerpages....

Actually, that is not the original. The original had the leads entering next to each other approximately 6mm apart. The one pictured above was after the change to bring the leads in at 180 degrees opposite each other. The thought process being to have the mass of the leads, such as it is, evenly distributed on the cone. With both leads on one side of the cone you have a greater mass on one side than the other. At least in theory. Response tests and burst tests showed little to no difference.

This is an original design.

Does anyone know why the original tweeters and the model after all look like they have been through World War III even when they were brand new??

Indeed they were hand built........by just a few different people. Assembled, soldered and spray painted by hand, no mechanization. That's why they all have irregularities, especially the very early ones.

This is the assembly table for the tweeters. I love the ash tray and coffee cup.

Have you thought about a coffee table book?

No........I don't know anything about coffee tables.

LOL! Though that is very humorous, and possibly true, I agree, I wish there would be such a thing, especially because there are the most important pieces and parts still around, the PEOPLE!

I would certainly buy, proudly display and cherish such a representation of an important part of American audio story! :beerchug: :beatnik: :trebon:
