ESS AMT 10b Woofer Recommendation.

I cross the Heil over at 3kHz and you can use that portion of the schematic if that is your goal. This assumes the use of the "low impedience" Heil. We run the "Heil load" at ~8 ohms with a 4.7 mfd cap so your estimate of 9 -15 is pretty good for a 4 ohm load. The Heil does not need the additional volume gained by removing the resistors/Lpad and is plenty loud with 4.4 ohms added to it.

On another note, I just tried to get the amt-10b woofer out of the cabinet. Not so easy, and I am trying not to mangle the cabinet. It's stuck in there even after the screws have been removed. So, I can't really see what the crossover looks like or how much the baffle would need to be adjusted to accommodate a standard 8-hole 10" woofer.

Try heating it up with a hair dryer or heat gun.
ESS silicones the woofer in.
You will probably get some damage, but this will limit it.
Slow dry epoxy thinned a bit mixed with some fine saw dust you can fill and sand and paint.
Use a piece of roll tinned with a bit of silicone grease to keep the epoxy in place.
Some of the Dayton woofers offer a wide surface mount baffle to help content with this. Not sure if you looked at any of these ( Designer Series).

How do they sound in comparison to the original woofers?
Deeper cleaner.
Play louder with less distortion.
Dayton makes some excellent woofers at great prices.
The sealed bass box IMHO is a way better match for the Great Heil.
These particular woofers work well, sealed, with the stock internal volume of the AMT3.
The stock woofer with yours IMHO are much better quality then ESS used in the AMT3's

Are you speaking of my AMT 1Bs?
I also have two pair of AMT 4 that use the original AlNiCo woofers in a sealed box configuration. Would this Dayton woofer be an upgrade over those?

That's a 12" woofer.
Paper cone.
Not sure how the 12" version works.
The old OCS 12" Eminence woofers worked great.
If any one needs a set-I still have a pair floating around as I recall.
