ESS Transar rebuild thread

For the last three weeks, I've had the in-laws in town (LOVE them), which means that my audio room turned into their sleeping space. Now that they're gone, I cleaned up and made some renovations. The ESS AMT-1a have been moved out so I can work on the custom external crossovers I'm building. So I've installed the refurbished Fisher XP-7 speakers, which are.. cool.

Anyway, today I installed the AMT mounting brackets on the Transar, and hung the AMTs, and connected the blue/pink wires. I'm literally only missing the current source amp/crossover box.

Well, non-sense or not..., I've been wondering if a Great Heil could be mounted into a baffle, looks like I got my answer. I f you don't mind indulging me, I would like to know the dimensions of that opening it's in. And for timing, I would think that the Heil tweeter bracket would be on the backside of the baffle. Did Oskar really mount that on the front like that?

Mine didn't come with the mounting brackets. I had to fabricate my own from some scrap metal at the local hardware store. You are correct--the AMT should be a few inches back. Reversing the bracket so that the mounting bolts are unseen from the front doesn't give me enough ledge. I'd need a ledge with more depth to clear the bottom part of the cutout.

As for the baffle, choose your own. Here's how Pure Audio Project is doing it: https://www.pureaudioproject.com/product/trio15-heil-amt-open-baffle-speakers/

Hey, thanks for the link. I'm surprised this PAP didn't show up in the open baffle epiphany thread. I gotta' say you have one hell of a project going on there, good luck and keep us up to date.
