Cool. How does it sound? The Sansui, that is. BTW, those knobs are awesome, I’ve never seen that style before.
I haven't had time to really test it out. I plugged it in and hooked the XP-55Bs up just to verify functions. Sounded pretty good just on those. I might pair it with the Sansui SP-X8000s I have.

Great score,

Interesting to see that after 50 years it still as the protective plastic on the rear ID plate.

...Wish things like this would pop up at our local sales..

Congrates on the great find, I think the Fishers are a great score too.

.

Thank you. I usually get beat to this stuff by a few other enthusiasts here.
The Fishers show on eBay listed for more than I paid for the entire lot.

That last ad you posted is memorable for me!
I went to Cal Poly in San Luis Obispo, 1972-74.

My brother in law used to tell me stories about listening to KCPR back when Weird Al was
attending Cal Poly and was a DJ at the Radio Station. That would have be in the mid to late
70's before Al met Dr. Demento and got famous.
I guess Al could get pretty off the wall during some of his sets on KCPR.

That story is amazing!
I recall Dr. Demento, but I really can’t put a time to when I first heard him.
I never listened to the local FM stations at all, when I was at Poly.
Everyone that I knew (maybe a dozen and a half college age kids!) played albums.
So Weird Al was on the radio in SLO!
I love it!!!

He took Agriculture at polytech while doing live accordion rock gigs at the
local folk/jazz open mike nights clubs.
Apparently he didn't go over very well playing in-between sets
of Belinda Biggins doing her version of "Kumbaya" and Tanisha Springer
singing "This Land Is Your Land"

It seems that in the mid 70's, the San Luis Obispo music scene wasn't quite
ready for a 6 foot -rail of a rock accordion player- doing all your current favorite
hits from Elton John to Frank Zappa and even some 'The Knack'
thrown in for good measure...

Did You Know That March Is Officially "Wattage In The Cottage" Month With Sansui!

Well, Cal Poly had 3 main schools-Agriculture, Architecture, and Engineering.
Agriculture was the original one, I believe.
It was huge.
Several people that I knew were in ornamental horticulture and turf management.
You mentioned the SLO music scene back then-in 1973, some friends and I had a band there-we called ourselves Springwater.
There were only 2 or 3 places that had live music in SLO then.

That’s really funny-I thought I was the only one at Poly who was into Zappa!

That is a nice score I have a QRX-3500 And a pair of SP-7500x's and some Fisher XP-7"s and it made the 3500 sound good. But I have just scored a SansuiQRX-5500 so now I'm playing with that. Receiver fever is a bad thing lol. I think I'm done for a little while now.

That digital readout on the left side is priceless, there was another brand from the 70's that had something similar but other than that, there might be a handful of other units that used those. Great ads, the one with the guys face ties Marantz for some of the worse ads of the 70's.

Those Fisher Speakers used to be everywhere around here, it's good to hear they're going up in value, they must have sold a million of them

I've seen those Marantz ads, They are quite notorious..
Very similiar to the Sansui but at least the Sansui psychedelic ads were in good taste,
I can't really say that much about the Marantz psychedelic ads from that era....

Not sure who Marantz was aiming at with their ads but apparently it was
weed harvesters and cowboy truck drivers??
?

Not that there's anything wrong with that..

.

The world was quite a different place back then!
Now, those ads just look kind of creepy, don’t they?
Back then, they just looked weird...

Well...my Kenwood is showing signs of needing service, so I swapped the QRX in it's place until my service guy is freed up. It seems to play well with the Coral BX-50s.
