Ever wonder how you get your netflix movies?

Wow!! Interesting, I never knew of the secrecy of their locations. Makes sense if you think about it though.

i didn't know about it either but thought it was a bit strange after reading of it, but maybe not.

for the last few years i've entertained the thought of seeking out the nearest facility to me, about 65 miles north of me. just to see it.
but haven't gotten around to it yet. maybe i won't bother now.

I have a favorite mailbox in Bethesda, MD that gets my flix to them the same day in Gaithersburg, MD.

And, no, I'm not telling you where my "lucky" mailbox is.

Now, I wanna know why they can't mail on Saturday!

Recently they've been shipping my discs from my queue on Saturday, actually, it's great. Maybe I'm just a preferred customer. :D

Seriously, I love Netflix. I was looking through my rental history the other night and I just can't believe how many movies I've watched in the last couple years, it's insane. The biggest issue I've had is with discs that won't play because they've been abused by someone else, and a few times I've gotten cracked discs, but I suppose that's nearly unavoidable.

One thing I'm curious about that wasn't addressed here: How many copies of each title do they keep per warehouse? Especially if, as it says in the article, 95% of all titles are rented daily (astonishing). Clearly they'd need more of some than others, but how do they initially determine that?

Only thing I wasn't impressed with was how they clean the DVDs in a "circular motion," which is not how you're supposed to clean CDs/DVDs.

They just started shipping on Saturdays in my area a couple of weeks ago. I haven't been in a brick & morter video store in years. Netflix is awesome!

Never used netflix. Now I know why! Setting up that kind of distribution center (processing 150,000 DVDs per hour, in the one center in the video!) would make no economic sense in Hong Kong.

Interesting business model, though! Thanks for sharing those links. :thmbsp:
