Farrand Unit what is it?

I found this today in an Estate sale. Judging from the inside of the Box the item belongs to the box.

Should this be posed in Vintage Audio?

I also picked up a Jensen TRIAX II speaker, but there was only one.

A guy named C. L. Farrand developed the first moving coil, direct radiator loudspeaker sold in the United States. I wonder if that is a voice coil for it. Maybe it is an early speaker magnet. Not sure, but it's cool looking.

Its the motor portion for a vintage cone speaker. The pin is clamped to the center point of the cone and moves in and out to, of course, produce the sound. If the coil is good, could be worth something to the right person needing it.

Well I found a way to get this to someone who needed it. Apperently he bought the (broken) speaker in 2006 and has been looking for a Driver ever since. I just found out that the speaker now actually works. I am very happy for him!
