Depend of many things, but your VTA will be compromised. Using felt sometime create more static than other materials, but sonically is decent and your record will rest on a soft surface. Cork, leather, and few other materials are good but in combination with the rest of the gear, and not always suitable for your music.
Acrylic platter are made to keep a good inertia, if you play your record without a mat sonically will colored your music but you are going to have few other issues.
At this point use the felt and find some other option with the same thickness and try, you will fine the sweet spot for your system.
