Arcylic Platter Upgrade

I have Music Hall MMF-2.2 LE and I purchased a acrylic platter for it, do I need to adjust the tonearm height, or any other adjustment I need ?

Generally, at the manufacturer's recommended AVERAGE tracking force, and with a cantilever that has been broken in for a week or two, the top edge of the cartridge body should be parallel to the surface of the record, when the stylus is actually on the record -- and this will give you very close to the ideal vertical tracking angle. Where the gimbal assembly can be raised or lowered, this is easy to adjust. Where the gimbal has a fixed height, you need to adjust the VTA by use of shims.

As far as tangent tracking angle and overhang, go the the Vinyl Engine and download one of their alignment protractors for free. By definition, when the overhang is correct, the tangency difference between the IN point and the OUT point on the protractor will reach a theoretical minimum.

The new platter has probably not made a very significant difference that you need to account for. I would suggest this...Put a record on and let the tonearm down. Then get down to where your eye level is at the height of the tonearm and examine whether the arm looks parallel to the record. If so, you're good. If not, there are two Allen screws on the back of the tonearm that will release it so you can adjust up and down.

It's not extremely critical, so I'd say if it sounds good it is good. If you want a visual guide, you could put a ruled index card on the record, next to the tonearm, but you'll obviously have to stop the record to do that. If you decide to adjust, be gentle when you re-tighten the screws.

"On the end of the bar that raises and lowers the tonearm there is a set screw. You can loosen this screw, find the correct height, and tighten the screw to set the bar in place. This should allow the lever to clear the platter."

So you did have to change the height?

Also...I don't understand this comment: "This should allow the lever to clear the platter." What does that mean?

Yes I adjusted the height on the tonearm. With the acrylic platter the needle would just barely lift off the record/platter, maybe a 1/16 inch. So if you buy one of these Pro-Ject acrylic platters you may have to adjust tonearm height.
