And so it starts. Zebra did not denigrate the 1200 series, but instead voiced his opinion on what table he aspires to own. But you decide to take it to the gutter and slam an honest opinion that just differs with yours.
You do not think speed markings on the edge of a platter are better suited for professional disc jockey work? You do not think a stylus target light is an INTENDED DJ feature
I know well what a dj deck looks like. My point was to counter the idea that 1200gae looks like one. You tried to prove the opposite but failed. Don't hate me for your lack of arguments, sorry. I even threw in some smileys but you still misunderstand my statements. BTW first picture is not ancient, it's the last Luxman model, even more expensive than the 1200GAE.
You're misunderstanding what I'm saying just to prove some kind of "point;" you ASKED what a "DJ deck LOOK like" (whatever that means) and I'm pointing out what features would make one LOOK like such. Regardless of all the ancient turntable pictures you throw up on here, these features are still more suited to "making a DJ deck LOOK like a DJ deck."
I can see this thread degrading into a pissing contest because of members coming off like snotty dicks, quite frankly (i.e. "Jetstream") so I'm exiting the discussion; bait and flame all you want with others...I'm unsubscribing from the thread.
I will contact those members privately whom I wish to continue discussing the SL1200 with...
oa: Couldn't post it any sooner due to AK not being really usable during the last couple of days, but I can now add a recent production number from Pro-Ject: 120000 turntables per year (source: http://noe.orf.at/news/stories/2774346/)
I'm wondering about ordering the GAE if I can. Not to use, you understand, in fact it won't leave the box, but to resell. Any thoughts on likely future value?
I got a quick look a the new 1200 and the quality is definitely way higher than a 1200 mk2. If you've ever pulled open a computer hard drive and marveled at the precision feel of the parts and bearings inside, that's how it looks and feels. I did not get to listen to it though.
