First vintage system

There are many options, what's your budget? I recently bought a WIIM Pro for a little over $100.

Around that ballpark, or maybe more if there's some return for money to spend more. Thanks for the tip about WIIM, I will check it out.

Do you know if the minidisks were recorded normally, or long play (long play is lower quality) ? As they usually sound pretty good ime.

Yeah, now that I have read about it more, it seems there are formats ATRAC-1,2,3 and more, each supposedly better than the previous one. Not sure which format my discs are. I cannot however record them digitally, a computer pluggable MD writer would be useful for me now as would a golden unicorn which do not seem to exist.

I'm ashamed of the topic title now, if I could rename it to "retro" instead of "vintage" I'd be a little less embarrassed. No wonder some posts here were so angry :D

I'm pretty sure the last iteration of the MD format (Hi MD) had recorders that had usb functionality ? You could probably find one pretty easily on Yahoo auctions in Japan, where the format was much more popular.

If Hi-MD can record the ordinary MD discs that would be neat, thanks for the advice, I'll do some research on this now.

Just consider yourself lucky that late 50's/early 60's tube gear didn't get mentioned as to what "Vintage" means around here:p
