I have owned Fisher 500C and Fisher 400 receivers, and the tube rectified 7189 output tube Fisher X202 integrated amplifier. The 500C was decades earlier but 400 and X202 were simultaneously and just sold about a year ago. IMHO the X202 was the better sounding amplifier by a substantial margin. The 400 and 500C are no slouches, but the X202 was MAGIC!!! It's about 17-20 wpc push-pull and I used it to drive a pair of Vandersteen 2Ce Signatures with great results. As I said MAGIC!. It did run out of gas on very large, very dynamic orchestral works such as Mahler symphonies or Stravinsky's ballet suites (especially Le Sacré du Printemps my favorite). But they were by no means unlistenable. You just didn't have the slam of a Big heavily damped solid state amp. But for few solid state amps could float a holographic image like the X202.
Nothing like opening a Zombie Thread! It died in 2015.
