Foam Surround for Wharfedale 12"

The foam surround of my Wharfedale is 9.5" inner diameter. Most foam surround for 12" is 9" inner diameter. Does anyone know where I can get 9.5" inner diameter foam surround so I can refoam my speakers. Thanks.

Is the inside of the ROLL 9.5", or is the inside of the INNER LIP 9.5"?

Most surrounds for 12" have a 9.5" inner edge of the roll itself... the lip is 9" ID...

Frankly, nobody currently makes one of those. Checked with all available suppliers we deal with.

You're going to have to take a 15" surround, and cut it down/splice it back together, to get an exact fit. Same thing that happens with many 7" woofers, and with stuff like the Vieta 13" woofers of long ago...

So what's the best way to do the splice. I have done where I butt joined the pieces with Barge (contact cement) and then used a thin scrim type material and Aleens tacky glue across the surface of the splice to reinforce. Not as pretty as I'd have like but got the job done.

That's a good method. The Barge should stay pretty compliant, so it shouldn't limit the excursion. And a single layer of very thin "gauze" on the backside (enough to reinforce the glue joint) is a good idea.

If you only put the gauze on the inside, it's much less visible... and still well strong enough to take care of business...

My other solution is to lightly sand down/scrape the foam on each edge of the splice... the top on one side, and the bottom on the other... and overlap, where the two scraped sides are meeting, gluing with something like contact cement or spray glue. An overlap of about 1/2" will do it. If you're careful, you can "taper" the ends of the overlap, so that you don't get a huge "buildup" in thickness in the overlap... usually, not more than a 50% increase over the normal thickness...
