Yep, JC Penney. Components were made by various OEM manufacturers depending on timeframe. As Sir.Byrd said, this period was NEC and the TTs were generally either Hitachi or Technics.

I had a similar TT that came with the 3845. A clone of the Technics SL-1950, it's now pulling vinyl duty for my sister. Very nice looking 'table in black.

I agree mfhale, it's a nice looking table. I also like that it is a direct drive (no belt) table too.

Definitely "under the radar" stuff. I bought a receiver that was a Technics build from a storage unit, used it in my main system for 6 months, then flipped it for a $65 profit. The new owner loves it, (so did I) and I get to buy something else. (It is like a sickness, isn't it.)
A lot of people run the other way when they see the "Made exclusively for JCPenney" on the back. That's a good thing.:yes::yes:

some of the stuff is good and some isn't. This is one of the good ones. I think its well worth the asking price.
