Franken amp

Both channels - playing, biased- sounds fab! Still a slight buzz over the speakers, gotta work that out.

Dymahaco? Ynacoha? In any case, cool amp!

In honor of Hanukkah, it should be a Yamaco.

thanks, I'll be here through Thursday!

Bk, do you still need to fill the empty fuse holder area or thinking about putting a C-4 like light there?

I have the other fuse holder- remember the design, the PS board is bolted to the front plate- can't have meters and that fuse holder will need to be cut and glued to the face plate- the board is in the way of everything less that one fuse holder.

Post a pick of how the face is mounted from the inside?

I take it there is nowhere for the PS to go, even with standoffs moving it away from the bezel?

Never mind the pics, I looked at the earlier photos.

The face mounts to a twin that is part of the chassis or at least fastened to it.

In other systems, there is sometimes a circuit board mounted between the two and the resulting gap covered with sheet metal or plastic.

You would have to think about the aesthetic, money and time, but a front bezel could be made to stand off the chassis mounts giving you room for anything you want. A machine shop or old school body shop could fold the metal and weld the seams for you inc cutting any holes you want. Or the existing bezel could be built up on the sides etc...Its a project for sure.

There are also front mount digital meters that eliminate the whole issue, they are in the youtube video I posted earlier

There are also meters that cold be mounted on the front of the bezel, as to the aesthetic, you would have to decide. You could also take another chasis and create a remote meter unit for a kick, companies did sell them with the large analog meters.

Obviously this one does Volts, there must be watt meters out there. The circuitry and pick ups are another story.
This one is $8.00 for just the meter.

No not really, if I were to do that it would move the 8 to-220 heatsinks too close to the main caps- I'm keeping thermal's in mind with the design.

So i've been playing this bad boy for the last couple of days, just doing some tests. Have to get some feet on it, finish up the cosmetics- it get's LOUD fast- and on my B&W's it just doesn't stop, at 10 o'clock it's shaking the shack.

Too cool BK, have you enough non inductives to run a full power test? Can the Ontario power grid handle the draw? Will you reach 50vac? Inquiring minds and all that.

I have 2 300w non inductive resistors. When I power it on from cold the lights dim, that's for sure- if not, I have a backup generator :D

Btk,

I hope you don't mind me sharing the picture of your home, I know you don't want any invited guest just showing up to hear the system.

More like 40.5vac, tested it today at a healthy 205w per channel. Still a good outcome considering the 3020 is rated at 160w.
