Does anyone happen to have a single (or pair, but single is fine) of the Peerless MT-225 tweeters Fulton used in the 80s and other models?

I snagged a pair of 80s that used MT-25s, and compared to my other original pair, these do not sound nearly the same. I have rounded up 3 of the 225's and am 1 short!

Just be sure that they are the 8-ohm version which was used exclusively in the Fultons, not 4 or 16. DCR would measure about 7 ohms.

Yes got all three with 1.5ohm of each other. Depending on the final one (or pair) I snag, Ill be sure to even them out as best as possible

I just bought two different LPs engineered by Fulton... Once they arrive (including one from over seas) Ill be sure to leave my impressions

Also, here is a picture of each pair of J crossovers I have... A few differences and difference in part layout... but considering how many changes occurred, I think its safe to say they are fairly similar.

I know this is a old thread but I purchased a pair of Fulton Premiers.
First thing I did was rebuild the crossovers and actually found some differences in each crossover. Fixed them and these speakers sound Awesome in my Garage!

Thanks for the pics! Its hard to see the stamped serial numbers in the bottom let corner of the FMI stickers on the back... just curious if they are matched serial numbers or not? What kind of differences did you find?

And also curious how much replacement parts cost for the rebuild? Thats the thing holding me back from starting to restore a pair of my J's, is the total cost of sooo many parts

Did you pick those up at the church auction a few months back?

Cool to see that you are in WA and a Speakerlab fan too

I looked on the back of my Premieres (P12’s) regarding your question about serial numbers. Mine are handwritten on the back of the label. It is 717L, and 717R.

I can’t figure out why the pictures come in sideways...

In 2013 I was relying on a schematic of the 80 that had been drawn by another well-known Fultonite, whom I shall not name here . It turns out that he got it wrong. I was repeating bad info. It never made sense to me. Speakers with first-order crossovers, such as the 80, must have their drivers wired in the same polarity.

Adding onto this... There is an FMI-80 schematic floating around on the internet and it is incorrect... I have been inside two different sets of 80s, and they are both wired the same... The two attachments on the post are first, the schematic I found online, and the second one being one that I quickly drew... If you've ever worked on your 80s, you may want to verify they are wired correctly

Yes, that first schematic that you posted is the wrong one that has been floating around that I was referring to. I agree with your second schematic. The tweeter and woofer are “in-phase” with each other, although both are connected in reverse polarity. Every 80 I’ve peeked into is wired as in the second schematic. Not an issue with just two 80s, but when you combine them with tweeters and woofers in a J Modular, the 80s must be wired in reverse polarity to bring them back to being “in phase” with the other drivers. Fulton’s instructions for the J call for this corrected connection. Probably originally a manufacturing mistake with the early 80s and then it became too late to have two versions. Simple to make right with correct external wiring.
