First of all, would a Lab 80 fit in a base for a Synchro-Lab 95? Also, are the Lab 80's a better turntable?

I don't believe the 80 will fit in an SL95 base. I might be wrong on that, but as far as I'm aware, the SL95 has a chassis and base cutout similar to what the Zero-100 uses, and I know the Lab 80 definitely doesn't fit into the same hole a Zero does.
The Lab 80 should be the better machine. The SL95 was what replaced it, and it was built to a lower price point. Its probably easier to get one running correctly though due to the Lab 80's rather complex mechanism. I've never had a 95 myself, but the Zero-100 has a similar mechanism, and I do own one of those in addition to a pair of Lab 80's. The 100 is less sophisticated and runs a bit clunkier, but the thing works without a hitch. The 80 runs wonderfully when you get it right, but its definitely more work to get it there.
Rebuild both, listen to both, decide which you prefer. They're both nice looking machines.
