Adjustable shelves make so much sense as future gear may not fit.

Is that metal or wood construction? Can you provide more details of how you built this? I really like the look of that system.

The shelves are steel. I bought them for $1 each before pier one closed down. I stripped them down and had it powder coated in a textured black.
The legs and hardware are from 80/20. They are these
outside legs :
40-4082-Lite-Black-FB
Middle is this one :
40-4080-Black-FB
The spike feet on the bottom are from madison sound. I covered the wood with some sheets of brushed aluminum I picked up at the salvage yard. The first rack I built now is at a friends house and on that one I used cherry veneer on the shelves instead of aluminum and that also turned out fantastic.
Originally I wanted to make the shelves out of wood and probably would have had I not stumbled upon those.

@jera Dang that is sweet. I might have to copy you if I can find some of those Pier 1 shelves. They might still be clearing out a couple of their stores in my area.
On another note: I just picked up a Salamander Synergy 237 cabinet/rack for chump change. It was part of a bundle and extrapolates out to about $56 for the rack. I plan on selling a few of the items in the bundle which will make it essentially free. Unfortunately it's a little big for my current digs, but I have it disassembled in the garage waiting til I move into a bigger place.

Update: Supplies showed up and managed to get a coat of shellac to seal after initial tone coat. Pic 1,not much difference its hard to portray this with the lighting. Then today 24 hrs later put on the gel stain and worked into the open grain . A couple of pics during and an after.

Thanks, getting anxious to finish too... I have to make sure this stain is fully dry the top coats will be waterborne . Its a oil modified waterborne poly with an amber tint with some sanding with 400 grit in between . cheers

Thanks. They are covering the fasteners for the bottom shelf . I have built several beds and use them to cover the 3/8'' bolt that holds them together. I purchase these from Lee Valley here in Canada. cheers
That is a steal. I have one as well, without doors and the end panels are black mesh for air circulation.
If yours doesn't have them, may I suggest that you look into getting casters for this big cabinet. Makes moving it around a bit easier.

Do the casters also adjust for leveling?
Mine came with the standard feet that can be adjust for leveling ( a must in my current off kilter residence). I also have the mesh end panels. When I picked it up the only hardware it was missing was the knurled thumb screws for one of the back panels.
I have the casters on mine and I’m not sure tbh if you can level them my room is flat and I checked my salamander with a level and it was flat so I never checked. I do know that like Duane said it makes pulling it in and out much easier.

I'm in the process of building a new rack. It's two lower shelves are 41" by 16" by 2" the top is 3" thick 17 1/2" deep 46" long. Soft maple is the material. I'll post more photos when I complete the finish and assemble 
@brunomarcs Looks great and very similar to one that I'm planning on making. I was thinking of using White Oak - what pushed you towards Maple? Also, what do you have on the bottom of the legs, I can see some kind of foot? Looking forward to seeing updated pictures!
