Girl problems...

It doesn't matter who she is or what relationship you have with a woman; NEVER tell a woman to do anything different than what she already does. It will always come down on you like a ton of bricks and leave you there stunned and wondering what happened. Women HAVE to ask for help first before they will take suggestions. Learn this now or you will never make it in the world of women, which is mightily different from the world of men.

Nobody will win if you get involved with their relationship. You will lose and could possibly lose a good friend. Best thing to tell her when she comes crying is that you don't want to get between them and that she should talk with him.

As for her cooking, same advice applies. As for your stuff, gates, etc, have a talk with her. If she says she is forgetful, little love notes might help.

In my life, this has applied to girlfriends, too- which is why I'm single at 38 after moving in with 3 of my girlfriends (not at the same time :))!

If you had applied different timing, the outcome might have been the same, but it would have been infinitely more interesting getting there....(not to mention the video rights alone.....)

You can't just simply move out. I mean, maybe you can. But most of the time there's a bunch of extraneous circumstances. I'm mostly referring to a lease. You can't just, uh, break those.

Living with people is all about compromises. It's about time compromises began happening. In a lot of college towns or even inner city schools it is extremely impractical to live on your own. Roommates are a must unless you want to pay out the nose for an overpriced studio, if there's even an overpriced studio available.

This is a problem you have to face with your roommate. You won't learn squat from running away.

Looks like you’re kind of screwed if you stay there. Your buddy’s GF has seemingly taken over the place and has already tried to involve you in her emotional crap, and as a guest in your place told you to leave?

I would suggest to start looking for a new place. The last thing you need while going to school is being stuck with someone else’s BS that you have nothing to do with. If your buddy really is a great guy then he wouldn’t be imposing his screwed up GF on you and your other roommates.

However if you do value his friendship, moving out might be the only thing you can do to keep it.

The best way to make an enemy is to move in with a friend.

QFT. It has never worked for my daughter. And a few of my friends.
... your roommate shouldn't let the girl live there.... that's the issue.

There.

There.
All of them, it seems.

Good luck with the house hunting and never ever fall in love with a sloppy , undisciplined, undomesticated female like that one..

I discovered this too late.

You don't have a girl problem. You have a roommate problem..... your roommate shouldn't let the girl live there.... that's the issue. If he wants to live with the girl then the two of them need to get their own place.

Exactly. I have had the same issues living with 3 other guys, but this was technically my mothers house who I was renting from. People would come over stay over etc. I got sick and tired of it and just moved out, but what I should of done was just got different roommates. The house was basically trashed, and I kept saying that we need to clean up and asked for help, but well lazy is lazy.

Learn to ignore things that are not causing you physical harm, it is something that will serve you well in the future. Especially if you ever plan to work for a living or get married. Trust me, your skin will eventually need to be thicker, happens to everyone :thmbsp:

And I have $5 that says OP marries the crazy GF within 3 years, who wants in the pool :lmao::lmao::lmao:

I agree with the idea of perhaps moving out. Not to hurt the friendship you have with your friend but to preserve it.

When I was in college, my roommate (of 2 years) was the older brother of a girl I dated a bit in high school. He was several years older having gone off to the Navy.

Our last year together finished, I had another semester to go before I was done. I decided that we'd been together long enough and if I stayed the next semester we would probably have a strained friendship. His friendship, his sisters frienship (and the rest of his family) meant something to me so I simply said that to keep things easy for HIM the next year (me moving out & leaving he & my other room mate one person shy) I simply said I was moving out at the end of this year and would find something on my own.

Today, almost 30 years later, we're still friends (as I am with the rest of his family)

I really think had I not moved out at the end of the year, we would have had fights/arguments by the end of the next semester and would have put a lot of damage into the friendship.

I'm in, he's already in love with her

Years ago I lived in a big ol' house w/4 other guys...one was a co-worker, one a buddy, the others just lived there & paid their share. None of us was Martha Stewart. We'd get more than a little lax with the dishes.

Solution? Box 'em all up & head to the car wash. A couple bucks later...clean dishes!

Or maybe the roommate, it's hard to tell which.:D

Never get between a buddy and his girl, you'll lose that fight in the short term, and probably the long term, too. Girlfriends are the number one cause for the ending of a close male friendship.

This means, no giving her relationship advice and no complaining about her to him in any way.

The best way to get out of this with friendship intact is to move out after giving a reasonable notice. Before getting into another roommate situation, ground rules are a must.

I've been in roommate situations where live-in girlfriends worked out ok, but only when the live-in girlfriend was a full-fledged rent payer and a secure member of the household. If she is just a sponger, she will feel insecure about her position and eventually seek to strengthen it by weakening your position.
