Going Digital!

I think I'd stay with Norne/Norse cables...they're state side, and have more options, but good looking out! very much appreciated!

Question, bro....are you suggesting UPOCC and OCC are different? I hope not, OCC is the short cut.

Bet. It's nice to have several options regardless of their origin, I'd say, but I feel you.

Regarding the differences between OCC and UPOCC is more or less based upon the metals purity as well as techniques used to develop both, on an average most have grown used to say OFC Grade 3N Copper, while Grades 4 - 7N are dedicated to OCC/UP ( Ultra Pure ) OCC and are more about having that prefect balance between delicacy and resolution done correctly whereas notes tend to linger in mind air, but done in a manner that sounds/feels right. But we can save this one for another day - just wait until CRL starts producing those prototype USB cable they allowed me to sample - Man it was heavenly.

Like most great finds in life, like the wifey.........., there's no going back to less desirable women or cabling materials in my mind. But as always - I'm deeply biased, but I'm happily in love with both.

Thanks for the additional link...Havent found if they're state side tho.

But just to note, I don't see where you're coming from with the previous links.....OCC and upocc are one and the same process. And from what I've read in those links, they are using the terms interchangeably. One is not greater than the other as far as processing. Just interchangeable in the way its said. But there are different company's that sell such types of cables and may put their own spin on the OCC. Example....Analysis Plus still has the hollow design with their Crystal Copper. Others like to use the "Litz" design....some like to even Cryo their OCC and so on. I've been into UPOCC for about 10 years now and have always upgraded all my cables to it as time permits. I've also been preaching up OCC for years....now others are starting to listen.

Here's another head ups for you as you're into ripping from said M Mini, that should come in handy:

From what i have been reading all of these companies are doing pretty much the same thing, organizing, tagging, and ripping and each claim their way is better. The main difference seems to be user friendliness.

So i have several questions. Why do some use several of these services, it seems this complicates things even more. Second if i used a trial run of lets say JRiver and at the end of the trial run decided that it was not for me, what happens to my music on JRiver? Since JRiver would not be enabled how would i have access to it? Thanks.

True that, as it seems I stand corrected - they're in fact referred to by different lettering according to whom one talks to, but I did pick up on one key fact - they appear to be more partial to being made in Japan whom I know for a fact never allowed their better gear or cabling to ever make it across the pond - and the cabling lines that do, like say Acoustic Revive - Acrolink - Oyaide and Furutech do have a sound all their own when heard side by side with common makes - so in essence it seems that many cable companies are pushing OFC or 3-4N Grade wiring then which explains to me the greater sense of air, texture and refinement that's within the musical passages as rendered with anything greater then 4N.

Okay then, reality check number 4 completed.

Back on course.

Be good little Brotha.

Great point, and seemingly a rather true one at that.

But let's allow those whom actually rid their CDs onto such devices respond, as I haven't done it in years. But speaking on the music library matter - I've remained with iTunes since 2006 as a means of cataloging or storing my songs and once placed there other then a few that were altered - I still have access to them, from what I noticed JRiver merely found my music which I already had placed onto the Apple Remote as well as iTunes and pulled it onto the JRemote device while not bothering it.

It's also wise at some point to back your music up onto separate external hard drive devices, I like the ones by G-Technology - Toshiba along with two others that escape me at the moment due to the fact that are made from aluminum and match the styling of the Apple products to a " T " which I find creative in that sense of synergy as appearances go - yes..........., I'm into modern decor and love Italian furniture and minimalist clean lines, so be it.

But that's my take on said issue, I hope it helps.

Every little bit helps and it`s much appreciated.

I did find a late 2012 Mac Mini so that`s in house and set up. The Amber has been finished and is going thru testing. I guess i could start ripping CD`s and adding music to the Mac Mini while waiting for the Amber.

I have been looking at these for storage and backup. http://eshop.macsales.com/shop/ministack

Sounds like a good plan on my end, and it seems to be all coming together for you nicely so I'm happy for you, now let's get the latest version of iTunes onto your Mini ( your default media player ) which then takes your songs and places them onto its internal library and saves the copies within your desktop files for safe keeping. I generally like going through the trouble of selecting my own photo cover art, as a lot of these sites ( even ITunes ) have covers that are lopsided or torn, and that's a no-no around here - for better options as far as photos of covers use either allmusic.com or rateyourmusic.com ( just insert artist name and hit the search key/arrow ) and scroll to said album title and select which suits your taste best.

Nice hard drives which I keep forgetting about, another great choice on your part.

:sigh:_oh

I don't think things have changed much with ver-20 but here is the instructions for ver-19.

http://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php?topic=82074.0

It's worth noting that Jriver uses their 'DSP engine' to get to DSD128 meaning it's going through a PCM stage. Perfectly fine (IMO) if you are starting with PCM anyway but if you have a native DSD64 file I'd just play it bit-perfect - don't think it's such a great idea to go from DSD>PCM>DSD just to get to DSD128.

Just my opinion though - try it both ways and draw you own conclusions - they are just different shades of good sounding. :)

I'm searching for Version 20 and admittedly am a novice but the DSD settings and Audio Settings, for that matter, are different. What I am experiencing is a profound "breathing effect" trying to go from PCM to DSD. It's 24/192 I'm trying to change on the fly and maybe that's not possible. I am going to drop Wyred4Sound a note and report back on what they have to say.
JRiver is a bit over my head at the moment but I'll get there, I'm sure.

If you're needing the settings in JR...

On the menue bar, Tools> options>Audio Device> select your driver W4S ASIO . Under Device settings>500 milliseconds should be selected. then go > Settings>DSP and output format> 2xDSD ASIO>Bitstream>DSD

For the file conversion....>tools>options> (left side) encoding> encoding for (select )file conversion or CD ripping (whichever your doing) > encoder>DSD>encoder setting>2xDSD.

The other settings are at your option as best fit.

I can't wait till you get her settled in:yes: I need your ears to tell me what you think. When time comes for an upgrade, it's down to three DSD devices.....the Amber....the Luxman, and the new IfI Pro which has yet to be released.
