Going Digital!

Thanks Oscar for the support, and thanks to the fellas as well for the kind words.

You're more then welcome, as I've stated repeatedly I see you as an extension of myself, and in the gravest sense family........., and though it all, one never turns their back on family.

Stay strong, stay up.

Peace little Brotha.

As it has obviously be awhile since anyone or I've written anything here, I merely wanted to say that I've added the Curiuos Cable USB to the system, and have to say that all the reviews have been spot on, as this has to be one of if not the most organic and open sounding versions I've heard to date, well should I say along side the CAD USB cable ( $500 ) it brings about a more natural flow to the notes as if one has uncovered several layers of haze or muck that beforehand went unnoticed, yet I must add that I'm torn between using it from the Mac mini into the Regen more so then the iUSB 3.0, as to my ears the combination of said Regen and Supra USB 2.0 cable have in my system, and to my ears a sense of refinement and synergy that has replaced every other USB cable I've owned, with the exception of the two mentioned above.

I've yet to add the iPurifier 2, as it wasn't clear to me if I'd wait 4-6 weeks to get the one with the type A connector that works into the iDSD DAC itself?, or merely use the standard type B installed into said Regen and let it be?.

Either way............., this has proven to be my last venture in system building as I see it, as my system is certainly good enough to hold my attention for years and years to come, granted I've a few more isolation devices to add here and there namely two more sets of Stillpoint Ultra Mini's as well a slightly more upscale DAC along the lines of one of the PS Audio NuWave, or Metrum Musette or Octave MK II type DACs and I'm done.

But I'd once again like to thank my younger brother Byron for smacking me in the back of the head and reminding me to get off my arse and pursue these devices to which he and I had discussed months beforehand, which I admittedly slept on, but not anymore. And while Mi Brotha has finally seen the light, and regained his creditability amongst the vinyl diehards ( to which is no longer an option for me ) I wish him and the others here whom have guided me through thus quest the very very best for the New Year, as well as years and years to come, and while I'm at a place in my personal audio journey where I've reached my end desination, and have found at times it's quite difficult for me to want to write on any of the various forums to which I've earlier on enjoyed sharing and learning about all things audio related, but of late the " Music " speaks to me louder and is rendered so beautifully that I dare not be distracted otherwise, so know that I'll always be watching from time to time, but in all honesty............, I've leaned more then enough, to where there isn't anything else for me to learn, so I'd much rather spent whatever time I've left on the planet merely pursing tubes and adding music to my collection, and enjoying time with family and friends.

Once again, it has been my pleasure meeting all of you, and especially the ones whom I've befriended along the ways, whom have expanded my mind in so many many ways, a special thanks goes out to each and everyone of you.

Here's hoping that one day, we can pick upon this during more intimate listening sessions on the other side.

Be well to all of you, as I ride off into the sunset with my wife at my side in search of peace and many more years of musical bliss, God permitting.

Peace,
o_O scar

Big guy! What up!?
Man, sounds like that's a fair well note? Naw, bro...it's never fair well, but "in a minute"!

Still hanging with the cables, I see. That's cool. Bro...if you've the new iUSB power supply, you don't need the iPurifier2. The iPurifier2 is for those who have the first generation psu. So you good, bro!

Bro...you mentioned DACs. I'd like to report, I've heard one of the best DACs I've ever heard the other day...actually it was my second time hearing it. All I'm going to say is..this DACs is solid state....and it sounds every bit like tubes. The name of he company that makes the dad is sold through Legacy audio....yeah that's right! Steve got his new speakers...the "V". And it comes with the Wavelet DAC. The Wavelet is more than a DAC...it's a preamp and room correction device as well, but I think they sell the DAC alone as well. All I know at the moment, it came with the $50k speakers my buddy purchase and the DAC sound better than any DAC I've had the pleasure of sitting in front of...and get this, it wasn't doing DSD...I could tell it wasn't DSD, but it was still all that.

In a minute, bro!

Hey little Brotha,

Fut' up blood?.

There you're, as I was always that by you having upgraded your phono-stage and rediscovering the joys of vinyl and all, you had simply forgotten to write home, as I believe it's the iDSD DAC which has an original iPurifier built into it, and it was intended for their earlier DACs like the iDAC and Nano iDSD where it was developed afterwards, instead of the iUSB Power, but I got your drift either way.

And it sounds as if Steve's system is " clicking " better then before, and I'll definitely be looking into this DAC you've mentioned, as I had concluded as of earlier today........., if nothing else I'd try to land a secondhand AMR DAC and be done with it, as mentioned earlier I've been somewhat thrown between using both DXD 705 and DSD 128 as it stood, so to my ears both show great promise, it merely comes down to what knew perceives as resolution, or a greater sense of involvement that matters?.

And lastly, you're so correct in saying it should be been quoted as " In A Minute "!, as I do intend to sit in the background and keep an eye peeled for any topics to which I can add to, yet as I'm so involved in listening itself, it's becoming harder and harder to tear myself away and want to respond to anything of late, but I'll keep an openmind and just comply when the desire strikes me.

In the meantime, stay up and enjoy your time with the family, and don't forget to check in from time to time, as you're sorely missed.........

Okay fellas, I'm about to test Byron's hearing by sending him what I hear as a remarkable USB in that Neutral Cable basic version ( the blue one ) that set me back $150 shipped from Italy, as mentioned to B..........., I've come across what I hear as great investments in sonics at lower prices from the likes of the AudioPrism QuietLine ( which lead me to investigate Isotek Systems Neoplug and prefer them, as I only need a total of 3 in or around my system ) - an Oyaide R1 AC Outlet - and said USB Cable, which have in hindsight all capable of taking the sonic level of my system that much closer to what I now consider a synergistically balanced approach beyond anything I'd have imagined short of having spent an extra $30.000.

While many discuss the importance of line distributors/conditioners very few really mention noise filters that actually remove unheard, yet still present sounds as they contaminate our mains, but it's upon inserting said devices like the QuietLine or PS Audio Noise Harvesters along with a few more costier units that one becomes aware of what's been missing the whole time.

While I don't might spending say $1.200 on a great sounding IC that matches my system, it's when I come across these simple, yet effective devices for less then $200 - $300 that cause me reason enough to want to share my joy. Anyways, I'll be sending the cable off to Byron on Thursday, and have told him already..........., I only took me a mere 5 minutes to know that I couldn't go back to the WW Staright 7, or even their more costly version called the Silver Platinum 7 which this was compared to, and it was returned the following morning, as I didn't need 10 days to hear what was to my ears a purer - truer sense of tonality and balance that caused me to sit there for 13 hours just amazed at what was obviously right about this design, and where others should be made aware.........., but I ask that you sit back and await Byron's findings for yourselves - good, bad or indifferent, only time shall tell.

Enjoy the show.
I agree.
The higher resolution your system is the more it will benefit from cables and power conditioners-the Audioprism units are great. Many times these systems are much more susceptible to "inperfect" conditions, impedance matching, and cables. But that's the price you pay for "truth to the signal".
If you try using the Audioprism Noise Sniffer-you will easily understand how noisy your lines are. Even a corroded wire, or subpar switch can add noise-above your noise floor. IF you can borrow one-try switching in a cheap power cable for a nice shielded one. Bad ones can easily add-8-10db of noise.
Plus-not to mention how this noise may interfere with the signal itself. It also clearly audibly shows the benefits of using the shortest possible power cables.
Add to that, some equipment, particularly digital equipment will bounce back noise into the line. You might be surprised-even with expensive units, can add some bounce back. The Audioprism filter usually solve this-or bring it below your baseline noise floor.
With mid/lower hi-fi stuff, switching out cables probably won't make much of a difference, but proper filtering should help drop down you background noise.
The nice thing about the Audioprism and MIT units are they are parallel, not series so they won't restrict current.
You still may want a good surge protector as well, but you need to pay attention if your equipment is current happy-many will degrade the sound with too many chokes/etc if they can't supply the proper current.
I have heard too many REAL high resolution systems, and the differences well made shielded cables, and power conditioning to make a foolish remark that its snake oil.
If it didn't make a difference on you system-it's probably a midfi/low resolution hifi setup.
Nothing wrong with that-but at the same time it's foolish to say they won't make a difference on a different setup.
I loved Stereo Review-but it's funny how this mis information has carried on since the last issue in 1999. And how steadfast people stick to the idea a wire is a wire. Try using a Noise Sniffer, for example, and explain the differences in the noise...
You need to look at cables and power conditioning as component's themselves, and take as much care as you did selecting your 'hardline' components as you do the cables and the power they will be using. Otherwise IMHO your really wasting you money as you will never truly hear what they can do.

Thanks for your response, as it's so reassuring for me to see that someone actually " gets it ", as it seems I've tried for several years now to share solid recommendations with others, yet get the overall impression I'd be better served taking to the wind, as I'm to assume most are to set in their ways to even imagine what's missing without having heard what these devices bring to the clarity and purity of the musical notes themselves.

Yet I've also come to the realization, that as long as I've taken it upon myself to understand the importance of enhancing my entire system via said devices, resonance controlling footer and platforms, and the likes, as I'd much prefer to focus my attention on the details of what these devices bring, as opposed to merely feeling the desire to buy newer components every other 2-3 months, without in fact knowing how to get the best out of the ones I've in-house to begin with, as there are often times when one merely needs to understand how to obtain better sonic resolution and integrity from any given component or system and not write items off so quickly without applying effort to said cheaper, yet just as vital means of bettering ones fidelity without moving lateral onto a diffent, yet not always better sounding component just for the sake of slight differences at best............., yet like with my own children, one gives them the best schooling and wisdom one can offer, it's then upon them to build their foundation upon the tools and choices their parents have given them and grow to become more productive members of society, and not sit back in years to come claiming they never had a chance of achieving anything..........., when all that's needed is, they pay attention and be willing to grow.

Yet more often then not people tend to challenge ones opinions, on what they themselves merely don't understand, nor have tried enough to see whether or not it's true to begin with, but I can say that my days of trying to share said details are far behind me now, as I'd much rather spend what's left of life enjoying my family and closet of friends in prolonged and long overdue listening sessions, then continue wasting my breath on those whom wish to remain closed minded.

I'm done, life moves onwards and outwards........, but I'm glad to see once again, someone gets it!.

Sure.
I think trying to 'educate' people directly is a waste of time. some has to do with the frontal nature, especially of late, people tend to get needlessly offended, or offensive (disrespected?-never got that one-(in my book respect is something you earn over a period of time-it's ain't automatic folks-sorry to say)-especially these days of the internet-and the rising of the "Close Mind Syndrome, a symptom of the former.
However documenting (here) these findings IS a great way of doing so-more or less mike a book, and will surely be helpful to those with more open minds, despite the nay sayers and trollers-dam them 'stinkin torpedoes.....as you mentioned most have never really tried to experiment IMHO-and it's usually very easy to see through-they are not being truthful. Harder to confront directly of course-but with a little thought and perspective you can point it out.....
They seem find joy in throwing a wrench in the works, while offering little constructive help. Lack of taking their life education seriously and lack of realistic personal and social perspective seem to be the main culprits.
Sad state of affairs I must say-but keep writing-the show must go one my friend! Honest information and reflective opinions are always helpful in this cat's book!!:D

Good morning automojo,

Once again, while I do hear a kindred spirit in your words of comfort, as well as your ability to read between the lines on others actions, in someways it's all getting rather tiring as I'm to assume most of these cats are simply over 60 if you will, which I've found to be the main ones whom seem afraid to venture out, yet very seldom know anything on how to get the best from their systems, as I mentioned to my homey Byron a few years ago, I've always tried my best to an influence for the younger cats new to the hobby, as it's an attempt in assuring them to get out to audio salons and listen, then listen again............, because at some point most will come to realize just how building a system should be approached from the ac outlet upwards, as one needs to take into account when auditioning systems at any given price point, what it consist of throughout, and buy accordingly.

Why oh why sit there fascinated by said system(s), when one isn't capable of buying it as is?, here I'm referring to the exact Source | Amplication | Speakers | Stands | Cabling Loom as well as said tweaks, which more often then not are hidden someplace in the room, yet most will continue to buy this or that component only to wonder where the magic went?, easy enough answer............, they left it behind at the shop. I've always believed that if one liked what they heard?, then one should then consider buyers said system as it stands without cheating oneself of the synergy which enhanced them earlier on, instead of trying to put together unknown pieces and thinking it's all going to come together.........., it just doesn't happen that way.

And once said end user has built a system capable of moving them to react on an emotional level as one should be at this point move involved with the recordings and not just listening to the components themselves, which is where so many get lost........., and then find it difficult to relate to how the musical notes should be rendered, as opposed to sitting there trying to dissect what the gear is, or isn't doing and have lost what's most vital.............., connecting to the music aspect of the system itself.

But in the end, it's nice having few cats from various sites or forums over the course of the last 18 years write me, and acknowledge my efforts were important enough to have touched more then a few of them, and lead them to approach said system synergy and aftermarket tweaks more seriously then not, so I that sense I touched the ones worthy of saving............., as the closed minded ones are still trying to piece together a system after failing over 6-9 components and 19-33 years later, and still haven't gotten it right, lest they'd be enjoying listening to music on a well balanced system that doesn't need replacing, instead of looking for the next best raved upon and praised component as recommended by certain reviewers or so called friends whom love seeing them constantly making the same mistakes as them, in forever searching for the Abso!ute Illusion.

Nuff Said.

Take care Man, and once again............., thanks for understanding heartfelt words.

Peace.

No-I'm using one Jitter Bug-seems to have some improvement.
Use it with a HRS Streamer III and really like the sound in my setup in the living room.
Some consider the HRS a low end unit-but it has a smooth and detailed sound, and benefits from a good input cable, and patch cable-don't cheap out here. It also has no need for outside power supply, the bass response is good.
For me it has that even non fatiguing sound-with plenty of detail not to get bored. Till I get more into computer/streaming this unit serves me well, and is a bargin IMHO for the $110.00 asking price.
I was demoing my Audioprisim noise sniffer-with a handful of Quietline III filters to a audiophile friend of mine (he has around 25K of Macintosh/Magnepan/cables/PowerPlant,) and he was totally dumfounded by the results of these inexpensive filters.
If you have not tried them, your missing something.
The Noise Sniffer shows how well the work. but if you put at least 2 on you circuit feed your system you will clean up the noise in the line nicely.
I also have a few in the kitchen in utility room, to clean up adjacent lines.
The Noise Sniffer also works to tell you how well your 'isolated" noise filters are working on your conditioner, as well as it's overall filtering effectiveness.
Especially if you think your digital system sounds a little bright and smeared-these inexpensive wall wart filters may do the trick.
The inwall MIT Z Duplex parallel filter also works very well-so well the Sniffer is dead quiet on high. Plug your amp into one outlet, and plug in a Isoblock for surge/ isolation on your source components a ferrite ring on your digital components power cable, and your set for a good baseline.........
Getting a inexpensive db meter from Parts Express is useful in getting a baseline for the noise in your listening room.
People are always amazed when they find there powerline sounds like a hive of angry bees.
Amazing component, and diagnostic device.

ok, been off this thread for a while. what is the word on the new offerings from ifi? I have the Nano dsd, but am considering upgrading. how much of an improvement am I looking at here with staying within the ifi line? OR, should I look elsewhere?

I think Oscar has a lot to say about these devices...I know they work as well.

Hello Brotha B | Guys,

It seems like it has been years since I was able to find my way home, yet in reality it's more and more about me being in a place of peace in that listening has become so rewarding, it's hard to wish to do anything else with life being as short ad it is, so writing on the various forums as I once enjoyed has become something which merely lingers in the back of my mind.

Yet, having as Bryon stated gone through all of 5 variants in one form or another of noise filtration devices, and decided instead of adding 8-12 devices from the likes of AudioPrism QuietLines, or PS Audio Noise Harvesters, I chose to go with three of the Isotek Systems EVO 3 Neo Plugs which are quite effective in many certain that there's a greater sense of not only clean power flowing throughout the system, but offers less noise coming through our Powerlines which i believe most aren't even aware exist, I mean using said devices like Noise Sniffers........., one hears police calls, radio and television station board cast, EMT calls, and even those trapped on the other side ( just kidding with this last one, but being a SciFi nut, I can easily see some form of ghostly figures just beyond the tv screen.........., name that movie ) yet upon using a few of these devices, once system appears to have developed a certain stillness or calmness if you will........, that allows one to hear much much deeper into any given recording venues as intended by its producer or engineer it becomes quiet clear ( pun intended ) that we simply haven't heard this sort of clearness in our lives as music lovers, as my audio dealers aren't likely to discuss such matters as noise filtration devices, but they should, as to my mind there's no going back.

Food for thought, and again while I can't explain how they work............, I can say in all honesty, they do. And those whom have come to know me, know that I'm not one of those types whom speaks on things I'm not a believer of in so much as not to have invested my own funds and time in knowing the truth.

Life is to short to second guess oneself, when in fact one should ask themselves.........., " what if? ", there's something to what O_o scar is saying after all?, there's only one way to find out, " listen and then know for thou self ".

Hey Bro....Did you really hear all that stuff with the other plugs? WOW! So the Isotek is the way to go? I might have to look into those. Thanks for the tip, mi bro! So what else is going on over there man?

In a minute!
