Goofy hobbies

Still into film photography. I shoot fine art portraits with 4X5 and 8X10 view cameras and still run a wet darkroom.

Had a Speed Graphic at one time and fooled around with this a bit. Too many interests and too little time.

I have the mentality, but I'm a lazy sumbitch :D

I wish I could be.. I used to be, but I bought a place that's nothing but one massive project... You could almost call it buying a new hobby :(

I spent about 3 hours yesterday moving the pig pen to a new spot so they could root all the trash out of a new area...

Right now, momma pig working for me is all that's keeping her alive.. I'm about outta bacon, and just gave away about a pound and a half of some of the last of my sausage this morning...

I knew an older gentleman who collected antique spokeshaves. He had over 100 when he passed way. Amazingly (to me anyhow), they sold quickly at the estate sale.

Well, being a railroader by profession the passion of my career has transformed itself into a hobby…… outdoor garden railroading. In my case 'live steam' …..

I try not to collect things as a hobby as that just creates a clutter and maintenance problem. I try to make my hobbies about doing things instead of having things. The only thing I collect is albums.

One of my more interesting but very geeky hobbies is creating websites, blogs and forums around my interests. Of course it helps that I am a web designer and internet marketing consultant as a profession. I find building an audience or creating an online community completely fascinating. Although sometimes it's like babysitting. LOL I also do some "affiliate marketing". It's great to have a hobby that actually makes money. Last year I pulled in almost $40k net with this "hobby".

I also like gourmet cooking, skiing, kayaking, backpacking, fishing, craft beer, guitar, traveling and live music. I used to be a fish tank geek but it's dry and in storage right now. None of those are goofy I know. That's a good thing I guess. LOL.

Metal detecting
QUOTE]

Thought this would be fun so, I hafta ask, why did you get out of the hobby?

It was something I did with my dad in the late 60's early 70's I still have a couple of his old detectors (made by WHITES) and when I get the Willys Jeep back on the road I may very well pack it along on some adventures.

LOL I completely for got about Astronomy. And my telescope. To many to keep track of.

Eh, all I meant was that I don't/won't own a cell and thus can never be accused.

Okay, I wasn't sure what you meant, but yes it's just a little difficult to ring tone sans cell.

I'm the opposite. I got rid of my landline 5 years ago forever. The only people calling were telemarketers and the do not call list is a joke. The phone kept ringing, TM after TM. I turned off the ringer. After all that, I made sure that everyone I want to hear from had my cell number and severed the cord, so to speak.

I pretty much use my cell for everything now, dunno how it works in HK for privacy, ect.

Bushcraft. Got to be pretty good at setting snares and making fires without matches. Health doesn't let do it as much but when I can i get out.

1/64 scale die cast cars, mostly Matchbox and Hot Wheels. I'm starting to custom paint them also like the one on the left below. Tried for the 'Two Lane Blacktop' look.

Sansui Electric 'promotional' items. Guess you could say I've been collecting vintage Sansui cables too. Got a bunch including the a lot of rare 1980 "High-Efficiency" Series stuff.

MFSL CDs, gold and silver. I'm done.

Collect International 'traditional music' CDs. Still do that.

Bottle openers from bars all over the world. But I quit that now. Only have about 10 left. Gave the rest away as presents.

Small collection of pottery/ceramics. Mostly Chinese Dynasty stuff: Ming, Cheng, Song, etc. The real stuff.

Not much... that's it.
