Grado Hum Database

So far, I have tried the Grado Black with:
Kenwood KD-5066
Sony PS-X4
(2) Pioneer PL-117D's

I used a variety of headshells, from standard mfg fare to an Audio Technica magnesium shell with no added hum from any combinations. I'm thinking about picking up a spare. :thmbsp:
 
Grado Prestige Silver with modded Thorens TD166 - no hum.
Grado Prestige Blue with same table - also no hum.
Grado Prestige Blue on Dual 1245 - hums a bit but too much for me. My wife says she can't hear it. With a Pickering V15-750E, absolute silence.

Grado ZF3+ (equivalent to a Blue) very slight hum on DUAL 1245. Not tried on the Thorens. Hums big time on AR-XA, even with the modern upgrade motor.

Grado Black - same as Blue and Silver. :thmbsp:
 
Grado Black on Denon DP60L - No hum
JG Signature on Thorens 125MKII with Premier FT4 arm - No hum - sweet!
Grado Black on Dual 1229 - hum - maybe bad ground connection

DUAL CS 608, GRADO Gold, Lot's of hum at outer record edge
DUAL CS 728Q, GRADO Gold, low level of hum at outer record edge
 
Grado Black + Yamaha P-500 (retired) = no hum
Grado Black & Grado Red + Garrard Zero-100 (rim drive) = no hum
Grado Red + Bogen-Presto Lenco L-61 = big time hum

Grado Green

Very little hum on outer grooves, increasing toward center.

By the way, if you have a TV (or other large RF generating device) NEAR the turntable (not sure of the exact proximity but fairly close like within 4 feet or so) and it's turned ON while the record plays the Grado gives off a noticeable INCREASE in the level of hum.
 
Do we want to make this thread a "sticky", so that it'll stay at the top? Sounds to me, like this kind of info should be within easy access...

What think, moderators, et al?
