Grand funk railroad

Thanks for the Farner update, I heard he was doing gospel singing but never heard any of it. I'll be streaming that to see if I gotta have it
...and the armband thing, I forgot about that. He always looked like a tough S.O.B.
 
Still have Grand Funk Live rattling around in the vinyl collection, haven’t played it in decades.

This thread motivated me to listen to some Grand Funk today, I've got a couple of needle worn LP's, or just bad pressings. I streamed his religious themed album. Not so good methinks. The band portion was severey lacking in my opinion. His voice was still all there, but it is a recording from 2010
 
I played Caught in the Act to death. A great live album. I've been listening to Bosnia streaming and that is really tasty too. It's a live album from the mid 90's. Peter Frampton helps out with a couple of songs.
 
My brother had the 2nd red LP and we played it to death. Guilty pleasure music for sure.

I dunno. Don's 'fro -- and vocal style -- were also purdy good. Hard to imagine Mark outsinging Don especially at this number:


(Arguably the best of their commercially-successful numbers)

I don't spin their official stuff often but 2-3 years ago I got into a spate of ROIOs, some @ which the recording quality was effin' very good to excellent, and so I went on a Live Grand Funk jag for a few weeks. The really good stuff, circa 1970-1972.
