I had its predecessor, a stainless steel Security-Six. Great gun, very accurate.

The parental units would send me out with one of these and a box of ammo when they wanted some alone time. When you say "Ruger" this is what I think of. The .22 semi-auto pistol they've been producing since 1949. They've sold millions of them. They have evolved over the years but are still pretty-much the same design as they always have been with some enhancements and improvements.
My Dad had one of these.

Ruger Standard: The Pistol That Built An Empire
A humble, yet forward-looking .22 LR pistol, the Ruger Standard became the unexpected cornerstone of one of America's largest gunmakers.gundigest.com

I have a Mark 4 with green dot optics. Great pistol. Just holding it, feels right.Love my Ruger .22LR semi-auto. Mine is a MKIV variant:

I'll get it out and take a picture. Need to do that anyway. What optic did you go with?
I think of the 10/22 too as a Ruger icon, but the "Standard" pistol is the main thing. Without it, there probably wouldn't have been any Rugers. It's the one that started it all for them. It was the first gun they ever made and started the company right after WWII. All the versions are called the "Standard". The Standard series consists of the original Standard, the Standard Mark I, Standard Mark II, Standard Mark III, and now the Standard Mark IV.This is what I think of when I think Ruger. The Mark series of pistols and the 10/22.
