I'm aware there are clubs that are essentially criminal enterprizes as there are clubs that are not and don't tolerate criminal activity that could discredit them. Clubs can also be the family some don't have or never did.
Afaik, "outlaw" is a term from the 1960s for clubs not affiliated with the AMA, the "1%" a ref to renegade riders that discredit the other 99%, according to the AMA.
Fwiw, my motorcycle experience goes back to the mid-1960s, I've checked out the club thing and decided it wasn't for me.

I have no regrets, but I did what I committed to, and I could so I got out good when the kids were little. They still have lots of "uncles", both 1%er's and outlaws, some are beautiful people. It got harder everyday to figure out who was an outlaw, and who was a criminal hiding amongst us..

It definitely isn't for everyone. Checking it out and deciding is encouraged, I've never seen someone pressured.

Thanx for the comments from the inside, and beyond.
When I looked into it, I found that some of these guys and clubs were going a direction I wasn't interested in following, and, other than for employment such as my Army career, I'm not really a joiner by nature.
