I've been looking into this a bit recently, since for the first time I'm having trouble finding ukl caps that I need. Based on some other posts and product info I'm leaning towards using this list right now, in order of preference. Just based on reading though, no practical experience with any of these myself yet other than ukl. I just ordered some ukz and ues caps for working on an hk 630 tone/preamp board.

Hi, does anyone have the service bulletin #165 they could upload here? I can only find it on HiFi Engine and other are no longer accepting new registrations.
 
Marking this to come back to as I pulled my 630 several months ago as it was acting up and I did not have time to figure it out (I am not super skilled, kinda beginner on restoring these things). I am going to pull it back out and recall what was going on, and start figuring it out from there. AFAIK, this unit had not been restored or updated at all.

Yes, I did that before when I put this into service (see my other thread here so I don't dirty this one up too much https://audiokarma.org/forums/threads/harman-kardon-630-i-did-a-thing.918004/ ) but then just have used it for quite a while until it started acting up. I was in the middle of stuff and just swapped it out for a 570i I had just cleaned up and put it in my nice and dry garage a few months ago. Will re-do those things, and also start checking out other things when I take it out of the garage and pull it out of the wood case. I do recall thinking some of the caps were looking swollen so want to check that too. I may need to do that or get that done to be safe as well.

To remove the 630 face you'll first need to remove the top and bottom covers, Once thats done you need to remove all the knobs.
Most of the knobs just pull off but the Bass/Treble require a small flathead to release the set screw that holds the outer part of the knob.

After you have all the knobs removed there then there is 3 screws across the top and 2 across the bottom that need to be removed :

For these sometimes the standoff will unscrew from the face, you can see with my one, if this happens you can separate the screw from it with pliers
and then it screws back into the face with a flathead.

Hope this helps a little, just go slow and its pretty easy, be very careful around the dial pointer.

After months of procrastinating, I finally pulled myself together over the past few days and replaced the old selector switch with one from a 630 parts unit. Everything works!
Now I just need to replace a few lamps. Apart from the FM lamp, all the dial lamps are blown, and so is the power button lamp. Dial Fuse type lamps are all working
Any tips on the best way to replace all those little bulbs behind the dial?

There are two Phillips head screws, (circled in red) one at each end of the lamp shroud, which must be removed to get access to the bulbs. A set of JIS screwdrivers can come in handy here but if you don't have any, keeping pressure on a good fitting Phillips screwdriver will work.

The one closest to the main filter caps might be a bit of a challenge but once they are out, the housing can then be rolled over to get at the bulbs.HK 630 Surgery - Copy.jpg

I just saw this so you can ignore my previous post!

Do you mean the FM, Phono, Aux etc indicator lamps? It's been a while since I've been inside a 630 and can't quite remember but I think the faceplate needs to be removed first. These bulbs are rated at 8 volts 150 mA but run off the same transformer winding as the 6.3 volt fuse lamps do. This might have been done to keep them dimmer than the dial lights. Not sure.

Just saw this and hope you got it sorted, I still need to change mine to be honest so im not 100% without looking.
