Did the 870 not use a dual power supply with a single transformer, much like the 670, etc did?

eThink; excellent overview of my favorite era of HK. Cleared up some questions that I had.

My personal opinion only is that the 430 and 730 (and 330c) had the best styling of the series, followed by the 630 and 930. I just couldn't get into the 570 and 670, although if I saw one in person (and heard one!), I would probably like them more.

Manatoulin had posted pictures of the Citation receiver on a previous thread, man, what a beauty!

Now I've really got the urge to get my 730 and 330c recapped!

Great overview. I've got a 630 and it is bulletproof and the amp section sounds great.

Jim -- Have you had a chance to compare a 730 and a 930? In person, the cosmetics of the 930 are much nicer: solid chrome extrusions around the dial (as opposed to plastic on the 730) , solid metal knobs (as opposed to plastic on the 730) etc. The 730 looks a bit flashier, but the 930 exudes substance, especially with the wood case, which the 730 did not have. Sorry!

It's a matter of personal taste, of course, but I like the lettering font that was used on the 730, as well as the simpler design of the knobs (they don't have the little pointer on them) on the 730 vs the 930. Just looks more Danish modern to me.

But I'll also say that I would love to have a 930! I'm trying to cut my stereo purchases back to only really special gear; and the 930 is on the list. And, when I hit the lottery, the Citation receiver!

Hi, anybody has an idea of what glue is going between the plastic and aluminium of the knobs on my hk670? It's all dry and the knobs are falling apart.
 
I've used contact cement in the past for this problem and it works fine. You should put the plastic insert on the shaft and then glue on the aluminum knob, that way you can align the indicator that the hk 670 knobs have.
 
I have a hk 730 that I picked up at a garage sale for 5 bucks I've tried it with quite a few different speaker systems and its a warm sounding solid receiver .The only thing is if I don't use it for a while it has to warm up before both channels work.
 
For the hk730. I guess it's normal as the capacitors empty themselves with time.

In my case, the indicator makes part of the plastic so there's no problem.

Most contact cements work by applying glue to both surfaces and waiting for them to get tacky and then glueing. Hard to do when you have to slide the outer shell onto the inner one.
 
Thanks for this thread.It got me curious about these receivers. Picked up a 430 in as new condition yesterday for 16 quid ( about $30). Don't know if that's the going rate, but I figure any good vintage receiver in excellent condition should be worth that at least! Have been very impressed with it so far. Nice warm sound-sensitive tuner. Haven't plugged in a turntable yet, but so far so good.

Yeah, but if I fill in the gaps that seem to be just for this? Maybe I should use hot glue?
 
No more attachements...

Oh, and btw. I used hot glue for the selector pot and it worked!

Now, I just have to do the tape switch... :dammit:
