Headphones

I have an early pair of 600 ohm Beyerdynamic DT-990 Pro's.
I've had to replace the velvet ear pads once.....other than that.....they are still fine.
Despite their size.....they are soooo comfortable!
Great bass.....without being boomy!
Just a plain good all-around performer IMO.

For the price it's got to be good, those cans you have are not very expensive.

I picked up a pair of Beyerdynamic DT-770's. While they're listenable, I far prefer my Sennheiser HD600's. Cleaner with a larger soundstage. Vocals are more upfront and they seem to be easier to drive.

My Koss 1982 Pro4AA's and 1984 PortaPro's should be coming back from being repaired in a couple weeks. The height of audio can-ness? No. Nostalgic? Definitely!! :music::banana:

Can't wait to again get that labotomizing feeling on top of my head from the Pro4AA's. :music::tears:

Fedex just dropped off this morning the Denon AH-D7000's I ordered and I have been listening to them for the the several hours. Now these are the first headphones I have owned since my Koss Electrostatic and Pro 4aa's of eons ago. (I am not counting the Bose noise-canceling or Shure in-ear phones I used for travel.) My choices were limited since many phones are of the open back design and allow others to hear too much of what you are listening to. Since the purpose of getting phones was to move one of my music servers into my wife's den and not bother here while I listened and read while she did whatever she normally does while I am in my 2-channel room.

Now after a few hours, my initial impressions. Headphones will only replace speakers for a small portion of my listening. The sound is very good but without the feeling of being part of what I am listening to. The bass is fine, but you do not feel it the way you do with decent speakers. Strings and acoustic instruments come across very nice.

All in all they should allow me to read and listen without interfering with other.
