im currently running stacked Model threes and I think they sound great.

... on the meh side of "just OK", I'd opine ;-)
If the price were right (say, between free and twenty smackers), I'd pick 'em up & refoam the woofers - they're fairly sensitive and might be good fun with, e.g., a push-pull EL84 amplifier (like a Maggotbox console amp).
