Need help identifying Altec horn driver

I need help identifying these drivers. The only thing that looks weird to me, is the fact that the box under the Altec name is empty.

Need more photos of the driver itself. The horn is the 811 used in a plethora of applications and with numerous drivers. Plus it appears to be a couple different ones.

Nothing. They were in an estate sale by themselves

They look like an 806a or something in that size. I believe the 802 variants are larger, but it’s hard to tell. Can you measure the size of the drivers?

From the look of it, I'd say an 806 is a good guess. The 802/808 models have a deeper magnet (the drivers are deeper front-to-rear).

Also, if you remove the back cover carefully (don’t dent the diaphragm), you can tell more about which model it is based on the type of diaphragm. It will have either the aluminum or the symbiotic which has the phenolic ring. This will also help narrows down which model you have.

The driver is 4 1/2 inches wide, by roughly 3 1/2 inches deep. Anyone know why there isn't the word Lansing in the box under Altec? I've looked at probably 50 drivers on ebay and Google images, all of them say Lansing in the box.

I wouldn’t worry about the lack of the word Lansing. They changed the cover a bunch over the many years that these were in production. You should be measuring just the magnet, not the covers too. 806 have a magnet depth of 3 1/4” while the 802 has a depth of 3 11/16” according to what I saw online

There’s a plastic piece covering the diaphragm to protect it. I wouldn’t mess with it for now.

The driver is a 23746, it is unique to only one speaker system that Altec made, was used with a 1500hz XO, and it is a delicate driver in original stock form and should not be used down as low as 800hz without judicious care if the original diaphragm is intact.

It's an early one with the old style rear cover, and the 50th week of 1974 date code verifies this.

If the original 23744 "light" diaphragm is still in it and working, you got a bonus.
