Anyone know if these would be all original? Any help identifying would be much appreciated. Just diving into the Advent rabbit hole!

The originals had a masonite ring around the woofer. It looks like the original fried egg tweeter. Maybe the woofers were replaced by a newer version.

Those are Original Large Advents, Walnut cabinet with replacement New Advent woofers. They should work just fine as they are if the surrounds are in good shape.

Original LA in Walnut have chamfered edges on the cabinet and as stated the masonite woofer.

Immaterial as the two woofers are equivalent.
One of the AKers knowledgeable in Advents has posted that some of the last OLA's had the metal frame woofer as OEM.

If they are from 1975 or 1976, they normally would still originally have had Masonite woofers. What are the serial numbers? It would only be if they had very late serial numbers that they may have had all-metal woofers as original drivers.

Also, the theory that the last original Advents may have had all-metal woofers is still just based on more than one late pair being spotted with them and no real concrete evidence. If you were to remove a woofer and see traces of the original Mortite used to seal them, that would be evidence that they originally had Masonite woofers or it could be the previous owner used Mortite to seal the replacements instead of a gasket..However, we never know. Advent could have used Mortite with the early all-metal woofers, too. No Mortite? It would be inconclusive as the previous owner could have removed all traces of the Mortite.

See, nothing really conclusive.

Looks like the tweeter is dated Sept 76. Might expect that to be about when these were made. No idea if the later woofer was in use for factory builds at that time.

Note the one tweeter with the 1976 date on it has the black tape going only part way across the Masonite square. The other one has the tape going all the way across so that is an earlier one - pre mid 1975. So, at least one of those is a replacement.

My August, 1976 pair of original Advents has Masonite woofers and I really suspect these, in this thread, have had the originals replaced and at least one of the tweeters replaced. You never know, maybe the previous owner just bought the cabinets and put available drivers in them. The clue would be the serial numbers.

Also, my 1976 pair has the white Velcro so the white Velcro on the one is a clue that that one cabinet, at least,is a later one although that's not absolutely conclusive, either. It does mean these two cabinets are not real close in serial numbers unless, by coincidence, Advent happened to have changed right when these two were being manufactured.
