Help Identifying Speakerlab speakers…

Hey all!

Can anyone identify these Speakerlab bookshelf speakers? They don’t have any identifiers or marking other than the Speakerlab badge on the grills. Thanks!

Those don't look like any Speakerlab speakers that I ever saw. The tweeter is the ever-popular Vifa D-19. The woofer could be by Speakerlab. But I've never seen what looks like an Infinity dome mid range on a Speakerlab speaker.

Thats why I grabbed em… that Infinity mid dome baffled and intrigued me….

A lot of people, like me, used to buy drivers from Speakerlab. And elsewhere. They sold badges too. I bet that's a DIY variation.



These are the older style. The Vifa D19s would have come later if they ever sold them. I was less interested in Speakerlab by then.

For $25 I figured I’d take the chance. They have an interesting sound… not necessarily my thing but it’s seems fairly detailed. No low end to speak of. They would definitely require a sub.

Those look look similar to some of the "DAS" models in their 1986 catalog. See here. They call their 3/4" PP dome tweeter DT75PF and they have a 3" PP dome mid they call DM300P.

Speakerlab changed their "formula" shortly after 1980 and I never cared for the switch. The new lineup of speakers just was not the same.

Speakerlab emailed me back…

They are early 1990’s DAS Point 8’s. Tweeter and Midrange from the original DAS 8 with a smaller woofer and smaller enclosure. Mostly built to order according to the person who responded to me.
