If you click on a user's icon, a popup will give you a "last seen" date, which for Jose was in 2017.
For currently active members, it is more likely to get their attention if you use the "reply" feature from one of their posts. Or, you can "name check" someone in your own post by preceding their username with an "@", as I did with yours.
Also, posts display a date at the bottom, so you can see that the last post prior to yours was in 2014. It is not unusual to revive an old thread, but it can be helpful to know that it is old.
I think it would be unusual for a voltage amplifier module to cause the symptoms you describe, but it's not impossible. The difficulty will be in finding a trustworthy replacement.
