Yes and the best way for you to know what that difference truly is for you to have a listen if you can. If you want the easy answer and you don't want to take the time to investigate (they can be very hard to track down I understand) for yourself then the Heresy 3 is the best all round Heresy to date and by a good margin. You could ask on the forum if there are owners of the three versions and see if they would let you have an audition. I am sure most members would be happy to do that I know I would.
I am sure that you will find fans of the Heresy and of the Heresy ll both are very good speakers and that is why you need to listen yourself to evaluate the difference. The H3 represents decades of evolution and refinement. K77 to K75 to the latest titanium diaphragm tweeter each is better sounding than the previous K-76-K 1" (2.54cm) Polyetherimide diaphragm and crossover refinements all this contribute to the H3 being the best of the lot so far. Time to visit some local owners for a friendly listen and discussion. Best regards Moray James.

Moray is correct as the HIII's are a improvement over my stock HII. If I had the extra $$ to spend. I like the HI birch plywood cabinets better then MDF like my HII and HIII are made from. And install all HIII drivers etc or look at Bob Crites cast frame woofers etc. Moray has been modest, he has done some cool mods to the Heresy and other series Klipsch over the years. Do a search here on Heresy mods.
Do have the "caps" replaced every 20 years or so in the cross overs( see Bob Crites for a cap kit). Moray suggested that I raise mine up(bedroom speakers) 24" and tow them in so I am looking down the throats of the mid horns that are now at ear level and add a decent sub...WOW..:music: I should have done this years ago.

thorenstd124...$75 bucks, you rock!!! I'm glad you asked the question. I am passively looking for a pair myself and doing a little research on them when I can find the time. I figure if I bide my time, maybe a good deal will come along, I could only hope a $75 dollar good deal! I've read about the new tweeter and improved cross-over. If I was to find a I or II I believe I would at least do the cross-over up date. I would really like to A-B a pair with my Frazier MK VI's. Since the MK VI's were made in 1967-69 probably a best compare would be with the I's. Thanks for the info guys. Fritz

Maybe MJ can confirm but I have heard you can turn a H2 into an H3 but you cant turn a 1 into a 2 or 3. I have a set of 1"s and when I added a sub ( outlaw ) it made all the difference in the world, totally different speakers now.....Roost

Yes you can take a older birch plywood Heresy I and install all HIII parts in it. You have to open up the area where the horns/woofer mount from the outside like HII/III. The older Hersey I, have the drivers mounted from the inside. My older Cornwalls are mounted the same way. I like the older birch plywood cabinets better then the MDF as I like it that the backboard can be removed to check the networks etc from the rear. I am sure Moray will post up with all the detailed info it will take to make a HI into a HIII. I have learned a lot from Moray's experiments on mods for many different Klipsch speakers.

LAB do you think I would benefit as much as I did with my chorus ll"s by putting in a complete drop in x-over from Bob, with my H1"s. It made a pretty big diff with the Cll"s, thanks, Roost

HI with original networks....replace them, or install Crites re-cap kit. If you have the extra $$ I would purchase new networks and forget about them for 25 years or so. Use a ohm meter and check the values on the drivers and make note of them and look on Bob site for what they should check. Now is the time to check for loose screws in the woofer basket, loose wires etc while you have the back boards off. I use my HII on stands with a sub as fronts in the bedroom TV system. Enjoy :music: Decent looking HI are harder to find now days.
