I suspect it's more like a "beacon" auction. That means it won't be sold, but local people might be aware of it and contact the seller for local sales. eBay is a great marketing tool. It's ridiculous to try selling all of these in one fell swoop. The usual buyer of this kind of gear is predictably budgeted for sourcing just a few components at a time, not an entire rack!

i remember that couple years ago pairs of 9's were selling at up to $15k. a quick google search of the 10b says $2500 a couple years ago. not as sure about the 7, probably between $3-4k. that's still what the current asking prices on Audiogon reflect, as well. no idea about the crossovers. but if you have the money to spend, $30k probably begins to look like a pretty good deal here. maybe someone with a Blue Book/A-gon subscription could tell us what actual sales prices of these items have been recently.
this setup looks to be in topnotch condition. i bet if Brian were to list those as low as $20.5k, they'd be gone in a few hours. Echo Hifi has a good rep. they were middlemen in the purchase of my B-1 from Mark B and they stepped up to bat when there was an issue that they missed during their testing.
I actually thought the price was fair.
The 9's are easily $10k a pair, the 10b's usually go for $4k, the 7's seem to go for $4k to $5k and IIRC, the 3's, especially a pair in that condition would bring probably $5k and I may be a bit low on the 3's since I believe they are from the days of mono and are usually found in singles.
Add in the rack and the fact that it is a rack mount 10b and rack mount 7 and $35k is not bad. If I had a net worth south of $10million...the buyer would be packing it up to ship to my house!

Having done some business with Echo Audio in the past, I can tell you that they're a class act. Not just some " piked this gears up at an Estate sale" (misspelling deliberate) POS listing.
It's not cheap, but it's the end of the line for a lot of vintage Marantz collectors, and you KNOW they're going to make darn sure every piece works flawlessly.

Very expensive to use ebay as an advertising vehicle. If not sold hes looking to spend close to $300 (math be muffed up here), a drop in the bucket compared to the asking price. If not sold though it would get expensive after a few relists. IMO
Exactly, a couple of years ago. A couple of years ago the house next to me was listed at $1m, and now it's $440K.
I don't know if you are smoking Saul Marantz's ashes, but no way is this stuff worth that much. I did not make some 'shot-in-the-dark' claim in my post at $21.5K. This is not some outrageous arbitrary claim or hypothesis. I have been following this gear for awhile and the bluebook as of today says:
1) Marantz 9's - $6460 (A PAIR). The re-issues a little less. The last pair I saw that was clean struggled to get $7200, and I have no idea where you are getting $15k. A beater pair got around $5500 recently.
2)Marantz 7 - $4170 - This seems right.
3)Marantz 10B - $2300 - This is right on.
4) Marantz 3 - $2440 ea. X 2 = $4880
The total is $17,810, so I left some 'wiggle' room for the rack mounts.
So if you think the SS Marantz 15 thrown in this deal with some KLH pieces makes up the $10k plus, well, I beg to differ.
A pair of McIntosh Mc3500s are not getting $15k (not in Japan or China), and these are far more serious amps.
my memory could be wrong about the $15k, sure, but note that there are two pairs of 9's included. and everything looks to be in great shape.
from what i have seen, the really collectible stuff hasn't seen a catastrophic drop in selling price in the last couple years, but i'm sure there are exceptions.

Looking at the condition,and taking into consideration that you wouldn't have to hunt down all the separate pieces.I'd say the price is fair.
I can't afford it,but someone can.
I'm guessing that these pieces are worth far more as a complete system,than if bought by the piece.i.e...pairs of speakers bring more than two bought
( or sold) at different times.
The vintage audio market has not suffered the same devaluation as the housing market.You are comparing apples to pumpkins.
For the consummate Marantz collector with deeeeep pockets,I feel this price is not out of line.
