HORN ALMIGHTY my ultimate hornspeaker project

Hello musik lovers,

I sold my latest project the fatboy. So I can try new designs.

Fatboy a 160liter bandpass.

And a bass reflex project.

and a other little one.

I am torn between a new openbaffle project or a super Horn project called "HORN ALMIGHTY".

After my first Horn successes 10 years ago I decided to go for the horn because I am also building a 10W triode amplifier. I had good experiences with them real drums super impulse behaviour.

Here a picture Left the last stage titanium drivers backloadedhorn active two way. Van den Hul wiring. And a own designed preamp that was straight up to 1Mhz.
Middle first stage with a 10inch right the test unit.

Formula to calculate efficiency at 1Watt.

Sensitivity in dB = 112 + 10 log (efficiency)

Efficiency = (10^(Sensitivity in dB – 112)/10 ) *100%

Efficiency of your loudspeaker at 1 watt 1meter

85dB 1Wmtr = 0,19%
90dB 1Wmtr = 0,63%
95dB 1Wmtr= 2%
100dB 1Wmtr= 6,3%
105dB 1Wmtr= 20%
110dB 1Wmtr= 63%

Where does the 112 dB come from? The 0 dB reference level for sound is 10−12 watts.
1 acoustical watt means 120 dBSPL.

The standard measurement for loudspeakers is done with an infinite baffle sounding in a half room with a distance of r = 1 m.

The resultant factor 2 π × r2 (area of a half sphere) equals −8 dB. Therefore we get for an efficiency of 1 = 100 % a sensitivity of 120 − 8 = 112 dB.

Hi music lovers,

It is bin quit here for a while but I was still working on the project. I entered the test phase.

It looks good till now good efficiency and response down to 40Hz

Here a picture.

Do like what you see?

These speakers have a high WAFactor because the average women don not see a loudspeaker, because they are to big to be loudspeakers. :naughty:
