Hot Dogs

Nathan's famous hot dogs. Im simple ketchup and raw onion or chili and raw onion. I prefer the poppy seed bun.

On a hot dog, just a healthy dose pretty much any type of mustard is fine with me, but I also like them with onions.

As well, like chili dogs with onions and a little shredded cheddar; a small squirt of mustard on that works for me too.

Here are some Hebrew National's with French's & Sharp Cheddar:

Here are some Hebrew National's w/French's, Stagg Chili, Colby Jack & Sweet Onions:

Ball park beef hotdogs here. Grilled only. Just a nice small helping of bbq sauce to top them. Beer brauts are a whole other ballgame. Inglehoffer whole ground mustard seeds and some sour krout.

While we're talking hotdogs, you should try the spiral-cut, if you haven't already. Just run a bamboo skewer up the middle, then roll it on a cutting board with an angled knife. Then pull it off the skewer. Best done on the grill. You get the "grilled" taste deep inside and you have all the nooks and crannies to hold your favorite toppings. Well worth the little effort.

I do something similar and also split the ends:thumbsup:

I fail to understand how this relates to the OP in any way

Its what they are made of, typically scraps from the cutting room floor :D

For hot dogs a local Brewery that is also a German Restaurant makes all their sausage including hot dogs in house.

When I go home, these cheap crap filled tube steaks are tasty, and they need the home town zero crap in it mustard

I'll have my wife try that.
she would probably enjoy it. :D

Chilli, cheese, relish, mustard or sauerkraut and mustard.

I like to cut the dogs in half, lay them on toast, pile it on and eat with a fork.

Dogs from the grill out of the fridge the next day cold by themselves are a favorite.

I like them so many ways. No real favorite it seems.
With any of these items added by themselves or combined kraut onions sweet relish mustard even ketchup. Not so keen on chili/cheese with the dog.

My Mother made when I was young and now my Wife makes them in the oven two different ways. Both on a single slice of bread dog placed diagonally slit down the center lengthwise one with cheese the other style pineapple inserted. Held together with toothpicks, then baked till toasted. We call the pineapple style Hawaiian Hot Dogs.

I'll have to try that.

Speaking of "Hawaiian", you remind me of my two favorite dawg sauces. I don't normally like ketchup, per se, on my dogs. The two exceptions are "Kings Hawaiian Big Island Lava" and "Dat'l Do-It Dattil Pepper". Both of these are the consistency of thick ketchup, or maybe salsa. Niether of these is "college prank" hot, like "Dave's Insanity", or all that crap. These both, while quite hot, actually have a great flavor. The "Big Island Lava" is right at the limit of what my old body will tolerate, but it tastes so good, you can't stop eating it. The Dat'l is toned down just a bit, but still tastes great. When I use these, I tend to put nothing else on. Great for brats too.
